So I Got My 47d Into Mode B...
« on: April 15, 2008, 06:20:00 PM »

I followed Textbook's tutorial for getting it all setup and according to the double eject button presses required it's in Mode B... BUT... Vista isn't recognizing the drive.

What do I do now?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

What do you mean not recognising it? not detecting?

Follow this video:
http://www.360mods.net/News/article/sid=87.html

It says flashing a 78K drive but its the same process with a 47D

When you get to the flashing part follow the text tutorial not the video as the drive you are trying to flash is a different version to the one in the video.

If you have problems flashing using the flashing program that the Textbook tell you to use download the Maximus Toolbox from Xbins.org and use that to read the drive key and flash the firmware but when you click "Direct Drive Flash (GDR Only)" and "Differential Flash (PATCH)" and another window appears select the "47flash" on the "Flash Program to Invoke" drop down menu.

I had problems flashing the 47D drive with the flashing program that comes with the firmware took me an hour to get it to work constantly trying the standard flashing program and playing with the Maximus Toolbox. Just kept saying "the drive is not responding" Hopefully wont be as hard as it was to flash the drive i was flashing.

Vista could easily be the issue.

Turns out I had to use the other bank of SATA ports on my mobo.  It's good to go now...

If I could just get it to pass the media test.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Dont use Cheapo media, use Verbatim.
Hitachis, esp older models are notoriously fussy!
