PM me if you want your 79 series drives downgraded to 78 series, patched with iXtreme 1.4 and
then spoofed as a 79.

I have an external programmer.. way better than the 79 Passkey method.. No longer need Passkey
in future updates, due to drive being a 78 series..

Thanks for all the help ; New passkey = success!  biggrin.gif

The passkey itself was faulty, and it worked instantly with a new one.
Reading and flashing went great with both drives, but they have big issues with playing backups.
Drive no #1 plays some bakcups (verbatims) but often gets "unplayable disk" errors.
Drive no #2 plays originals only. Bakcups gets the "unplayable disk" error when failing to read.

Both drives were flashed using Firmware Toolbox 4.6, by reading the FW, patching it with ixtreme 1.4 using the buildt in patcher, and written to the drive with the differensial patch option. A second dump af the firmware confirmed them to be hitachi 79 drives running iXtreme 1.4 8x.

Is there such a big difference in drives/lenses that one might play some backups that the other one doesnt?
If i damaged something on the DVD-Rom, it shouldnt boot games at all, not just denying backups.

Any suggestions about what might be wrong?

If the drives are new, just try tweaking the Laser
