Error Restoring 47dj From 2x Ixtreme 1.4
« on: April 09, 2008, 04:28:00 PM »

HI all,

I've flashed & restored my drive many times with no problems, and the last flash I did was to a 2x drive.  I've noticed that this is just a bit too slow for some titles, so I wanted to restore te firmware to stock, then reflash with 8x.

However, each time I try the restre procedure it fails.  I've put the drive into mode B using Slax, as I've done each and every time, and Windows sees it.  I even redowloaded & reburned Slax, but no joy.

Each time I type the restore command and the drive letter I get the following error:

CODE
RESTORE.bat

Any ideas?  The drive is a 47dj, but restore seems to call 46flash - surely it should call 47flash?  I grabbed ixtreme 1.4 from xbins again & tried that too, but no luck.

Help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I tried that too, it tells me that the 'Was.bin' backup file is the same as what's on the drive when I use Differential Flash RESTORE.

Should I be doing this a different way?

Cheers.

I tried that too I think.  I'll take another look tonight when I get time.  iirc, if I try the other method it fails with an error along the lines of "cannot read from drive".

Thanks

Yeah, I tried that again, and it tells me there is no difference between the firmware on the drive, and the firmware loaded into toolbox, even though the firmware loaded into toolbox is my original unflahsed firmware, and the drive will play backups.

Any ideas?  Can I brute force restore somehow using the 47flash executable?

Oggy... definately on the piss...

Of course it's flashed, hense, why he's trying to restore

In version 1.4 package all the tools are rarred into a file called toolpack.rar, it's possible that the unrarr isn't working..... Why don't you try to unrarr this file to the same folder and see what happens

Thanks, but I've tried that too, and it makes no difference....

It's a really odd one.

I tried a different PC too, but it kept crashing it!  Great!

Have you tried downloading the 1.4 pakage again incase it's damaged.... It's possible that "find" is knackered

Do you have a really long file path.... Have dissabled Virus scanners and the like, incase they are blocking "find"

The file path is quite long, yeah.  Good point.  I'll move it to one step away from the root foler & try again - I've always laucnhed from the same folder though.  Good suggestion however.  I've got visitors through until tomorrow, so won't be able to try again until then.

Thanks!

Well, that didn't work either!  However, I got osme time & just re-installed Windows (it was needed anyway), and restore was correctly launching 47flash, not 46flash.  However, it was still failing.  I gave it anotehr shot, and restore seem to eject the 360 drive - and the restore process worked!

I've now flashed back to 8x speed, and all has gone well.  Really, really odd error, but hey ho, it's all working now.

Thanks for your replies, podger..
