Benq Vad6038 Flashing Stuck!
« on: April 06, 2008, 01:32:00 PM »

I've been bombing this forum with topics and I'm sorry for that but I still didn't succed yet and I think this forum is for getting it done.

I' got windows vista so I had to change to windows xp sp2 compitability in Iprep and started it as a admistrator. In order to start Iprep correctly.

My problem is that when I use Iprep I choose the BenQ firmware Ixtreme 1.41 and the destination to the flash drive and check the "format/ make disk bootable" and switch to IDE based controllers and I get a green "MTK and DOSFLASH compatible", now when I push the "prepare destination" button the progress looks like this:
Creating BenQ destination
Making Drive E:/ bootable.
And there I get an error window that says:"Exception Processing Message 0x00000a3 Parameters 0x75E5023C 0x85B4596C 0x75E5023C 0x75E5023C" and I got three options "Cancel" "Try Again" or "Continue", I hit "Continue" and the progress continues with a sucess.

After that I gave it a shoot and booted the computer with the USB flash drive as the instructions said where I begun to "dben" and type the serial number, after that I got that sentence "Do you want to resend the command until the drive responds" and I hit yes and I get Status:0x7F, I turned the drive on and it started too toggle betwen 0x51 and 0xD1 very very fast in and kept toggeling but didnt stop, I tried by changing sata interfaces(I have 4 sata inputs, 2 red and 2 black ones). But It didn't toggle at all on the other sata inputs, the status staid at 0x7F when I turned on the drive, it only toggled on one SATA input and it was the red one nr 2.

So what do you guys think? I'll be gratefull for any respond.

Instead of me copying and pasting to this post you can follow the steps i gave another user in his post
http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=646724

It is a way without using iprep because iprep seems to cause people alot of troubles only thing you use iprep for is to get your port number

If you get stuck just let us know, good luck smile.gif

Now I did as you said, but after typing everything and pressed "y" at the mtk resend, I turn on the dirve and I get 0x51 and 0xD1 shifting all the time it doesn't stop, then I turn it of I get status 0x7F and turn it back on after 5 sec and again its shifting between  0x51 and 0xD1 very fast. What could it be?

Im no master modder by any means but i have done about a dozen benq drives the exact same way and 5 seconds has never been to long for me works everytime all the time but to each thier own use whatever time length you feel you need to. All i know is i never seen so many people have problems until iprep was brought into the equation which tells me best off not to use iprep

I had a similar error, remove the power to your dvd drives, boot into windows and re run iPrep.

I want to thank everyone for responding with solutions. I have no dvd drive powered, and I disable all the drive physically from the motherboard before I start dosflash. I've got a Asus M2A-MVP card that I use, I don't know if it supports softflash benQ, http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmen...=101&l3=482. If now, does anyone know a decent VIA card that is actual in the market wich is guaranted working for softflash?, I am trying to find the legendery  6421 VIA card here in Sweden but couldn't find any.

Yeah, I did that but I still get the error message on Iprep when checking format/make it bootable box ONLY, when Im not checking that box, there's no error window popping up. But I made it bootable with the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool and ran Iprep after that. And I tried the manual method with Dosflash 16 but still it jumps between 0x51-0xD1 and never stop, I may have been waited like 30 sec and it still jumps.

It's supposed to alternate between 0x51-0xD1.....

The steps should be ( and I'm only writing this coz no-one spelt them out already)

1. With the drive on, dBen 1234567 12345 [press enter]
2. When it tells you to turn it off, do so and press THE Press Y to resend the MTK Vendor Intro
3. Status goes to 0x7F -- (basically means can't find anything)
4. Turn on the drive and it should alternate between 0x51-0xD1 after 2 or 3 seconds
5. Turn off the drive AGAIN and status should stay as 0xD1
6. Wait 2 seconds and turn on the drive, status should go 0x73 and reading will begin

So I should turn the drive on from the beginning of booting into Iprep and dben, then when it asks me to turn off, THEN I turn it off?

I had the drive turned of all the way til I press "y" to resend mtk and status gets to : 0x7F and I the turn it on for the first time then it jumps from 0x7F to 0x80 very quick and then shifts between 0x51 and 0xD1 non stop. I tried and turned it of it stops on 0x7F and turn it on again it does the same thing like the first time..

Yes you should power on both the PC and the Benq at the same time ( some people depart from this when they have issue.... )

When it says turn it off, YES turn it off and make sure it's off i.e. that the LED on the xbos PSU is orange...

The order is pretty important as You are tring to force the drive into a bad flash mode which then leaves it open to be read/erases/written from/to.....

You also must have a Via 6421 OR and Nforce 4 for the "Bad Flash" mehtod to work..... Other sata devices just don't work with this method.......

You can use other cards but you then need to cut 2 tracks on the DVD's PCB and solder a switch to the track that are CUT......

If you fail the first time you MUST reboot the PC and the Benq to try again...

Now I tried that and same sh*t happens, it's shifting 0x7F>0x80 and then 0x51<>0xD1 constantly. I wrote up the chipset number on my motherboard with the one near the SATA inputs: SST 33-4C-NHE, 0627164-B. Does that say anything?

Okej, because Im not sure if my motherboard got that right chipset, but then again it reads it somhow, but it doesn't stop shifting....So thats the question, because if it wasn't good enough it shouldn't work at all or am I wrong?

PS! I found this one https://www.datorbutiken.com/se/default.asp...UrlTag=Prisjakt  Is this one ok? is it a working VIA card?

Yes, it says you are wasting everyones time unless you buy a Via 6421 card.... They cost €20, just do it

OMG that card is so completely not even close to being the right card....
