Pioneer 212d Suddenly Has I/o Errors
« on: March 25, 2008, 04:13:00 PM »

I've been using the 212D for about 2 months and works great. All of a sudden, I am starting to get I/O errors in imgburn when I burn. I also have problems burning regular dvd+rs and cd-rs using Nero with the same error. Has anyone experienced this or has any suggestions on how I can go about to fix it? I'm using updated firmware 1.22.

Hi,

Post the error log here for us to see first, before you decide to purchase another drive..!

Also update your firmware to 1.24 as i've not had any problems at all with this firmware.

Cheers

when I first open imgburn i get this error message

(IMG:http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/1706/imgburnerrorpx9.jpg)

When I click retry, it lets me continue but shifts in and out of recognizing the drive. When the burn begins, it fails in about 8 minutes before giving another error message.

When I go to upgrade the firmware from here, I get this error message:

Is this drive dead? I bought it only to burn 360 games. sad sad sad...

Hi,

Change the cable if you have a spare one and try it again.

If you still have the same problem, contact Pioneer support: Pioneer Support

They maybe able to help, just cover all the bases before you go out and buy another one - My personal choice will always be a Pioneer.

Cheers

bought a new 215d from newegg. it already arrived. installed it, and cleaned out my cpu case. and made 3 perfect burns already. i guess it was time for an upgrade being the price being low. thanks for your replies.
