Lantus Sources Request
« on: April 03, 2005, 09:23:00 AM »

Hi lantus,

I am making this post to formally (and politely) request that you please release the sourcecodes to the following projects so that up-and-coming devs such as myself might have the opportunity to develop them and learn from them.

Quake-X v1.01  (only v1.00 source is currently available)

ROTT-X v1.2  (only v1.0 is currently available)

Duke3D-X v0.90 Alpha (no source currently available)

I believe all three original sources were released under the terms of the GPL. I'm not trying to say you're obligated to release them (depends on how you feel about the relavence of licenses in this scene), I'm just pointing it out for your consideration.

I'm also interested in whether or not people would actually be interested in updates to these projects. So please let me know your thoughts.

Thankies ^_^

- Baer

Yes, but we don't want to be ass holes either do we? Maybe he has something up his sleeve and he wants to hold out? ;)

Anyhow, I hope he gives them up if he isn't working on them. It would be nice to see them completed...

...well Duke at least, because it is the only one that plays like shit atm. <

quite simply - no you cant

not for any reason other than, i didnt snapshot the sources for the stuff you need & each 3 of these have progressed in terms of code. i can release what i have but things are probably broken (a definite of Duke3d)

for quakex sources, your best bet is to ask TheDumbAss for them, as he helped quite alot with that build.

I just tried playing DUke 3D under Qemu under XDSL...

...fucking SLOOOOWWWWWWW, which is odd cause it runs 98lite just fine. :/

So is this port not finished because you've not had time Lantus, or because the main sources are still in a state of chaos? I'd play it, but the controls are waaayyyyy too wacked out, plus that non-inverted look kills me. <
