E66 With Correct Dvd-key No Spoof
« on: March 07, 2008, 11:39:00 AM »

Aight guys, heres the story..

Got an elite here that I modified back when BenQ wasnt hackable but only readable to get the key..

so here goes:

1) I opened up this Elite 360 and removed the Toshiba Samsung drive I installed awhile back as spoof hacked dvd-drive to replace the original BenQ drive back when hacking the Benq wasnt possible

2) I read out the dvd-key: A986C5EFDEFF0BD73D34B1F58699AFA1 and made a hacked BenQ firmware which I flashed to a BenQ drive.

3) I inserter the BenQ drive inthe Elite 360 and tested it..

4) I get error E66.. why?

5) I took out the Benq, and tried to do a new dump of firmware from the Toshiba Samsung drive that used to spoof BenQ in this Elite 360, but now the TS drive didnt wanna work.. I double checked the power cable, and I havent inserted it the wrong way.. no clue why this drive suddenly went dead..

6) I soldered off the SST chip from the TS drive and used an external programmer to read the firmware on it, and yes, it had the exact same dvd key as I used in the Benq: A986C5EFDEFF0BD73D34B1F58699AFA1

7) Im totally clueless here.. its the same dvd-key, but it still gives me E66.. Ive read somewhere that the fall update last year made some xboxes E66 without any changes to the dvd-drive had been done on beforehand. Could this be the issue here?

8) Before the customer came to me  yesterday his XBox 360 Elite had an TS drive with Xtreme firmware spoofed to BenQ and it has been working since he came to me the first time back when BenQ was only readable and not hackable (6 months ago? dont remember)

9) His TS drive started making troubles in the neighborhood, as I figured out his dvd-lense was broken, thats why I wanted to install a original BenQ drive in his 360 elite.

10) but as stated before I get Error 66.. any clues as to why? Ive double checked the firmware, and its the same drive as is being spoofed on Toshiba Samsung, and the exact same key.. I use 360 Firmware Toolbox ver.4.5 when I check this..

it just doesnt make any sense..

Original BenQ drive before: A986C5EFDEFF0BD73D34B1F58699AFA1
Toshiba Samsung spoofed as BenQ drive hacked with Xtreme: A986C5EFDEFF0BD73D34B1F58699AFA1

customer comes to me a 2.time to get a BenQ drive in his 360 elite since his TS dvd-lense has started to not work good anymore:

BenQ drive firmware hacked with Xtreme: A986C5EFDEFF0BD73D34B1F58699AFA1

Result: E66..

can anyone help me out here? I could ofcourse try and find a working TS and flash the same image as it had before he came to me yesterday, and see if that works.. as Im betting my ass it will..

How did you build the firmware?.... Is the checksum OK!

Where did you put the Key....There are 5 locs on the stock but only 1 for iXtreme

Did you check the firmware was OK with Firmware Toolbox

Do you have the very first orig.bin?? maybe restore that..

Everythings 100% okey with the firmware, Ive checked and double checked.. heres a screenshot of the firmware I dumped from the XBox 360 TS drive when the 360 did NOT give a E66 and it used to play backup 360 games but the dvd-lense stopped being so effective (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

(IMG:http://modtech.no/pictures/spoofed.jpg)

I mean, Does Maximus Toolbox 4.5 not read the dvd-key correctly regarding benq drives? perhaps I need to download 4.6? thought 4.5 was good enough tbh.. Ive flashed ALOT of BenQ drives, also spoofing BenQ to work on Hitachi and TS 360 machines with no stress..

WHat Im trying to do here is reversing spoof with a fresh completely new BenQ drive.. going from "TS xtreme hacked spoofed as BenQ" to a "BenQ without spoofed just xtreme hacked" without having the original file.. it should work fine as I have the right dvd-key right?

EDIT: MAN! I might have made a huge mistake now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) will the 360 react differentely to 62430 than 64930? I thought BenQ was BenQ nomatter what rom version.. but ofcourse, there are two different ones, that might just be it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

the original BENQ was 62430, and Now Im trying to make this work with 64930 as the rom but with correct dvd-key.. I guess thats where my problem lies.. I need to spoof it as 62430 or find a 62430 rom firmware for BenQ and then insert the dvd-key + hack it and then it should work.. right?

AFAIK, that should not matter. check that the firmware your flashing on the benq is not an MS based firmware spoofed as a benq. try flashing the benq with its original firmware but with the updated key

hahahaha.. your totally misunderstanding.. the screencap was just the explanatory of how the firmware I dumped from TS looked like..

Im not that stupid (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I will try and do it with the right rom version, should do the trick (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

i understood that it was a dump of your Samsung drive due to the filename, i was just asking you to make sure that it is indeed a benq firmware that you flashed to the benq. it can be any easy mistake to make

Found solution..

was like I stated before, I had the wrong BenQ rom version..

Originally an 62430 BenQ was installed with right key,
it gave E66 because an 64930 BenQ was installed (even with right key)..

I changed the rom back to 62430 BenQ with same key and everything worked like a charm (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
