Hi, can somone pleaase help me. I have been looking through posts and posts and more posts to find something but I have found nothing, i have no idea if my xbox is bricked but then again i think it is, so this is what happened i was trying to update my firmware with the latest but something went wront and while it was going through it say error something unsable do a restore but i didnt i unplugged the xbox from my comupter and went to see if it would work and it did not, my ejct button will not open but the thing is that i dont get an error its just loads to the xbox logo on my tv and thats it i dont get the red ring thing or any error 64, i tried to get it back to mode b with slax but will not boot and i cant detect it with windows, i have no idea what to do can somone tell me please that there is a fix for this without buying antything cause the threads i read were like 2006 and 2007 so im sure there has to be a fix please please i need my xbox back to normal again please can somone tell me what to do thanx

You're either going to need someone to remove and reprogram the TSOP, or install/have installed a chillifix board.

Option 1 would be the cheaper of the two as you won't have to purchase anything extra.

Check the installers thread for someone in your area who can do this for you.

it's bricked.. if you want it fixed you will need to send it to someone like myself that has an external programmer that can take the flashchip off the DVD drive control board and extract the DVD key and then I will erase the chip and upgrade it to a 59DJ and inject your key into it and then patch it with the latest iXtreme 1.4 firmware.

is there anything i can do without having to send it to somone or buy something, i would rather buy a new xbox 360 drive and take it from there if worse comes to worse, but there is really no hope for me to do something myself without having to buy something or send it to be repaird,

cause all i have to do is to get it into mode b to restore to its original firmware there is absolutley no way to do that, im sure there is, how about doing the hotswap and getting a noraml dvd-rom that has an sata and then i just unplug it from my dvd-rom and plug it to my hitachi drive and restore from there, could i do that, or is there any way in the world that i can get my computer to detect the xbox 360 drive...... if we could reprogram and remove the chip and do all that technicall stuff im sure there is a simple and logical way to get my drive in mode b to restore it so please does anybody know please i need my xbox back to live again.......

I don't think you get it.. your Hitachi 3120 drive is BRICKED. it is in recovery mode due to
not passing a checksum routine that was ran against the flashchip.

you have to take the flashchip off and restore it with an original firmware or upgrade it to the next
revision of firmware that was made for the particular Panasonic controller chip on the DVD control
board.

until you do so, the drive will be non-functional and you won't beable to communicate to the drive
to pull the DVD key from it.

k what if i just forget about this bricked drive and just buy a new drive the exact same model of 47d and GDR-3120, how about that what do i have to do, if i just buy one do i just have to connect the ide cable and sata to the new xbox drive and everything will work

You will still need to get the all important DVD key....

Nope, you need the Key from the bricked drive to do anything really.

Either completely forget about it or send the drive/PCB off for repair and key extraction.

but the thing is that i have the key and all the backup you need cause when i did my first flash before my drive getting bricked it saved me backup files so i have my key and everything so that is why im not that worried now the thing is how to i put the key inside the new drive can somone give me a link or tutorial on how to replace the bricked drive with the new one being the exact same model

.....or since i have the key i can bring back to life my bricked drive.....

or i guess not but i was just wondering if it is possible but i doubt it, so anyways ya does someone know a good guide or tutorial that is trusted on how to replace a bricked drive with a new one of the same model, i just being parnoid to taking chances of bricking another drive

If you have the key, then you can replace with any drive... The new one needs to have the key added and hten to be spoofed to appear as the orignal drive type..... Some replacement resellers will do this as part of the service, but it's easy....

i know, that is why im asking somone if they have a trusted guide or tutorial on how to put the key on the new drive, but the thing is that, i dont need to spoof the drive because im buying the exact same model which is Hitachi 47D GDR-3120 to replace my bricked drive which is the exact same type.

If you get another 47d.
1. Connect to you PC and get it in to Mode b.
2. Open Firmware Toolbox
3. > Tools > Direct Drive Dump
.......     4. Select classic mode
.......     5. to disk and opt to keep the file loaded.
6. Paste in your old key and click replace Key
7. > Tools > Direct Drive Flash > Flash Keys
8.  do 3, 4 and 5 again to confirm that the drive has you key on it
9 If the new drive has stock firmware then you will have a stock drive that works in your 360....

If you like, you can use Firmware Toolbox to open the old orig.bin, right click the key and copy it

are you sure this will work.....im sorry its just cause i really dont want to brick another drive, what are the chances of my bricking the new replacment drive

one last thing, which key do i get cause when i flashed my first drive it gave me the back up and there was these files..........

which file firmware do i have to open up
to get the key

Was.bin is the original
now.bin is hacked on to be flashed to the drive

Both have the key

key.bin is a tiny file with just the key in it


If you are worried about screwing up another drive then buy a Benq and spoof it with you key....

Better still get someone else to do it.... BTW, I mean flash it not screw it up..

well...im not sure i guess im going to buy the same model again, and im sure its not that hard to put the key, ill just follow the steps you gave me and take it from there, for now i just have to worry about it actually working on the xbox that i can actually play the orlginal games, then there is a 20% chance i might actually go back and start flashing it for backups anyways now im just focussing on getting the drive putting the key and making it work on my 360
