Hitachi 47d Flash Not Working
« on: March 01, 2008, 02:07:00 PM »

So heres the situation, I have a Hitachi 47d drive that I want flashed. I am easily able to get into Mode B and have it seen in My Computer. After that I restore the Hitachi 47d with iXtreme 1.4 using restore.bat in safe mode. The restore seems to go well. So once I have accomplished that, I go to flashix.bat and run it. I type in the drive letter, preferred read speed, and name of backup file and run the flash. Like the restore, the flash seems to go well and says 100% complete and I can shut off the system. So, I do that and test the Xbox 360 on my TV, I first use an original disc, and it works fine, HOWEVER, when I try a backup, the disc makes a "whirring" noise and it later says "Unplayable Disc". I have modded 3 other 360's in the past, including a Hitachi, but for some reason this 360 is stubborn. I don't know how to fix something that is not broken if you know what I mean. Anyway, if anybody knows of someway for me to fix this problem, that would be great. Thanks.

I only use verbatims for my backups, I undderstand Hitachi's are bad at reading discs but I tested with THREE different backups that all worked in my other modded 360, so I doubt that it is a reading problem.

Triple post, lol, my bad, but anyways I screwed. Now I don't know what happened but know I think the drive is bricked. The 360 gets an E 64 Error when the drive is connected with the fourth light on, but when it is not connected the 360 startsup fine. The problem is I am doing this for a friend. When the drive is connected to the 360, it is unable to eject and because of that I cannot get it into Mode B using Slax Live CD 2.0. I seriously need help... Somebody HELP!!!!!! OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG....lol, no but seriously. (I'm fu****) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)

Alright, if anybody has ever experienced the situation right now and know the solution please help. I don't know what the hell is going on. I'm freaking out about it and I really could use somebody's knowledge.

Okay, now I think all hope has been lost... The drive I believe is bricked... is there absolutely anything that I can do to repair it other then the chillifix or programming (removing sst chip). Could I buy a new drive from ebay and flash it with the keys I backed up. Or even somehow get this stupid drive into mode B. When I connect it to my compurter the computer does not even see it in Bios. Any suggestions please....

To save the drive, removing the flash and programming it is the best option, but you need the right equipment... Given all the issues you have had with the Hitachi, you might be better off getting a Benq and putting your key on it but you'll need a via card..

I figure programming is too difficult and cumbersome for me to do. I rather just buy a brand new drive and flash it with my key that I have backed up. But can I put a Benq drive in my xbox 360 in replacement for my Hitachi LG 47d.

Yes of course, you will need to prepare firmware in Firmware Toolbox with your original key and then Spoof it to look like a Hitachi 47

It's quite funny you posted this, because I had a similar problem tonight (just flashed my first drive ever - my launch 360 with a Hitachi 47d (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) - anyway, I got done flashing and put my 360 back togther, and the first thing I see when I booted it up was "Unplayable Disc" - well I knew there wasn't one in there, so I about wet myself thinking I had screwed up my drive.  Put an original in and it spun up but I got the same message - "Unplayable Disc".  Oh crap.

But then I remembered - in my excitement that the flash had gone (I assumed) well, I had put the 360 back together again but forgot to connect the SATA cable!!  So I tore the 360 down again and, yep, that was the problem.  Now my 360 is alive and kicking and playing everything flawlessly.

Just my story (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
