Hi,
first post here, so be gentle (IMG:
style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm learning lol.
Bought an xbox 360 cheap off ebay that 'wouldn't read disks'. Having replaced the laser in a couple of xboxs I thought that this might be an easy fix.
When trying to play a disk, I'm presented with 'Unplayable Disk' error in the dashboard. The disk doesn't spin up. I took it all apart, and discovered that one of the chips on the controller has failed (rather spectacularly).
The xbox still sees the drive, so I'm hoping I'll be able to literally extract the firmware (inc key) and reflash a new drive. I've already bought a new drive, but I've discovered that its an MS28.
Can I reflash the MS28 with the firmware from MS25? Or at worst case remove the firmware chip (the epoxy covered one, right?) and resolder it to the new drive? Are there any physical differences between the two drives, or is it literally the firmware?
Many Thanks to anyone who can help
Dave
P.S. I'm not interested at all in playing hacked/copied games etc.
