« on: February 07, 2008, 05:40:00 PM »

Hi, Ive got a couple of mates that want there firmware flashed and they have hitachi drives i was wondering is there any what to tell if its a V79 drive? Also is there an easy method of flashing them without soldering? im ok at soldering just looks a bit complicated. Last question lol Can you extract the drive key from the V79 drive and buy a new Samsung drive and install that?

Thanks,

Kurt

Didnt someone claimed to have a software-solution for the v79?
So you can get it into modeB without a passkey.

You can get the Hitachi 79 into mode b using the Slax 2.x CD

However once you have done that you can't do anything with regards to reading/writing the firmware unless you have the passkey fitted.

Hopefully someone will have a software only solution soon, like Maximus  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
