Hi,

Id just like to add now, I am not a newbie when it comes to modding 360 drives, done over 350 easily.

On my old PC I had absoloutely no issues what so ever, everything worked as it should except a few trick 0046/0047's using a VIA card, SIL chipset sorted that out.

Ive since change PC - using the same VIA card though.

When booting from USB for Samsung / BenQ drives my computer hangs after:

Samsung

Reading firmware - Firmtool does not load, computer just hangs with a continues audible beep

Writing firmware - same beep.

BenQ

I get the same beep depending on whether the 360 is powered on or of at boot, also if I have it powered on when re-sending MTK Vendor

Again, FirmTool will not boot becuase of this.

Motherboard is a - WinFast 6150M2MA

Its not a rather big issue - I obviously can work around it using F/W Toolbox to verify valid firmware dumps, but its something Id like resolved.

I think its motherboard related - possibly BIOS but that is as much as I can gather.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Have you tried using an NTFS Dos CD, and booting from that?

This has been showing up a lot lately, Just wondering if it might be the AMD processor that's causing the issue. Firmtool decrypts the firmware to extract the key... These decryption routines often work at a very low level in the CPU....

Will try an NTFS Disc at the weekend.

Was hoping it'd be an easy fix but I guess it wont be knowing my luck.

If I had a choice I would mate.

Unfortuantely I live  with my parents still which means I have no space, again I can work around it but when you've had it working fine for so long its kind of annoying to make it worse.

Flashing box takes 5 mins extra now sad.gif LOL

Hi castor, cheers for the input.

Its not just firmtool that beeps, It happens when booting with a BenQ drive on or off (cant recall)

It happens when using the mtkflash from the early days too, as soon as its read the firmware it hangs.

Its obviously a problem with my mobo/bios/setup

I was bored, so I thought I would update my thread as I got it resolved smile.gif

MS25's - flashing from stock worked flawlessly, run right through, no hanging lol - Not sure why?

I got Stacks overflow error on a BenQ one day, so I removed the power to both my 2 x Samsung Spinpoint 500GB HDD's  and started again

Ever since then all BenQ's, MS25's and MS28's have run through including firmtool perfectly, no errors whatsoever!

I just thought Id update it, and if anyone has any suggestions as to why the MS25 worked fine dumping/creating/flashing when the others didnt?????

And why removing my HDD's made a difference?

I do have nearly every IDE and S-ATA port used on my mobo (4 DVD Drives, 2 HDD's)

Sata,

Setup is:

4 x IDE DVD Drives (2 channel, master/slave)

4 Onboard NForce (love it!) S-ATA ports, one Spinpoint on each Primary channel

2 NForce free for modding

VIA Card, for BenQ / Samsung, has IDE slot though
