i got a backup working first time with this, just flashed the 0800 firmware as it comes, used the latest backup creator version and later burnt it and tested working fine.

I just did that myself, however I have not had the chance to test the backup yet.  I will do so later today.  Question for you:  Did you leave your Benq flashed with the 0800 fw or did you reflash it with the ix fw?

Also I wondering if anyone else can answer this: Can you create a 0800 iso for the benq and swap it out with the game instead of flashing the firmware?  I would think flashing and reflashing would leave you prone to bricking Xbox 360 DVD rom.  I haven't tried it yet, but was just wondering if anyone else has attempted this and got postive results happy.gif

Hi guys. ive just updated to the newest Xbox Backup Creator. On the last version I had I couldnt access the ASPI option at the top drop down box. Ive got an internal drive connected to my pc with the latest Kreon fw applied. I thought id use this new option to see if it made any difference to backups. The first thing i noticed is a message saying getting 1:1 info, followed by "creating split video 1:1 video" It doesnt say this when you select the SPTI option so being as the last version of XBC never had this does this mean that my backups arnt properly stealthed. Does it matter what option u pick. All my previous backup pass all the mulleter tests so should It matter? Thanks guys in advance

Yes after making the backup, i reflashed the benq drive back to its latest ixtreme fw - non 0800, everything played fine.

Can you flash the drive with this firmware using iprep?  Dosflash32 doesn't work for me and I don't know how to use dosflash16.  (Although I could probably figure it out if I had to).

Just wondering, where can I find the installer for this version of XBCr?  I'm running Vista and the exe alone doesn't run as it's looking for a file from the VB6 runtime.  The usual solution is to run the installer version of this tool.  Thanks!

What is the difference between SPTI and ASPI?  Do I need to concern myself with it if I just use XBC to burn?

I've been searching everywhere to figure out how to correctly flash the BenQ drive with the 0800 firmware but can't seem to find any tutorials. Would someone be willing to type up a very brief tutorial or possibly point me to a samsung 0800 tutorial? I've looked all around for something having to do with flashing the samsung w/ xtrm0800.bin but all i can find are people discussing the enable0800.iso image that provides a temporary solution. What programs do you use in what order to flash the BenQ with 0800?

After doing some more reading I came across DosFlash32 as opposed to the many tutorials I had seen involving DosFlash16. DosFlash32 seems to be incredibly easy but there is almost no mention of it anywhere on the internet as far as user experiences and reliability. I'm thinking I might try flashing my BenQ with DosFlash32 as it looks so simple but I would appreciate it if anyone could comment on their experience with this program.

Also, I have looked over the 2008 guide by textbook and can't figure out what iPrep does other than the certain things outlined in the guide. Is iPrep only useful for flashing iXtreme firmware or can it be used for the benq0800.bin as well? Also, when a person types "dBen ####### #####" and it reads the firmware where is this firmware saved - just as orig.bin on the USB thumbdrive? Is there a way to read multiple times and specify a certain filename?

If anyone can comment on these things I would really appreciate it.

XBC 2.8 Build 275:
-Added support for BenQ VAD6038 0800 firmware
(Note: This has had limited testing, be cautious)[/i]

The 0800 Release is a firmware replacment for the BenQ VAD6038 drive to allow you to backup your own games. It is, as always, not for use on xbox live.
