I Bricked My Xbox
« on: January 15, 2008, 05:27:00 AM »

Unfortunately while flashing I lost my xbox drive key, I have a new second generation xbox (zyphir) whith a nenq drive. I got only part of the original dump and the hacked dump (http://rapidshare.com/files/83961004/benq.zip.html) mb there’s a possibility of key extraction? If not what should I do? Can I buy a unit with a Samsung drive and replace it with benq? Is that even possible? Or mb should just buy a m$ sticker erase the dvds rom and take it to service?
Please any advice would be helpful,
Anyone extracting the key would get a small paypall fee.

The orig firmware you uploaded is only 32kb & will not open in FWtoolbox.
Have you actually flashed anything to your drive? if not dump the firmware again, make sure it is 256kb in size.

If you have flashed anything to your drive without actually correctly dumping the firmware from it your 360 is now fit for spares or the bin.
At the moment there is NO WAY to extract the DVD key from the 360 motherboard.

Any ideas about what should I do next?

Open the dump in a hex editor. If you're lucky your drive key got dumped and you can insert it into a hacked firmware.
There is a tutorial somewhere about getting the key with a hex editor but I can't find it right now. Will post again if I find it.

WTF? If you look at the file from position 4bb0 in ascii-format you see some links. anandtech.com, xbox.com, an ebay auction for x360 halo 3 edition and alot of russian websites.
This file wasn't produced by dosflash...

The file was deleted, and part of it was lost (while recovering, I guess thats my ies history (((
No the drive is flashed whith ixtreme 1.4 (with 777 as a key)
I tried searching for the hex key tutorial - no luck there
If I wont have the key what parts should I buy?I am guessing an xbox motherboard whith a key? if so is replacing a mother board a complicated proccess? I heard something about drivers spoofing.

p.s anyone know where I can find an ms sticker? ebay?

How did you lose the key?  I'm not asking as a way to twist the knife.  Just wondering if you didn't use a USB or floppy to do the read?  The bits of URLs could only come if you recovered this file from your hard drive, which is a bit unusual.  Are you sure there's not another copy somewhere?  If it was on a USB stick and deleted, did you try recovering from there as well?

Also...it seems you just bought this box, destroyed it out of your own stupidity, and now you're wanting to buy a new warranty sticker so you can return it and screw somebody else?  I understand shades of gray, but that's pretty dirty.  Why don't you just legitimately sell the system you toasted?  You hosed yourself, just take the hit to the wallet and consider it an educational experience.

What do you mean "revive it"?  You lost the key, that's all.  Why the hell would you need thermopaste?

Without the drive key your xbox is useless as stated before!
Sell the 360 for parts, buy a core system & put your HDD on that & learn from the big mistake.
Asking other X-S members to help you commit fraud will get you into trouble with the moderators.

Pretty much.  Moneywise, you'll come out about the same if you just sell your bricked system and start over.  The advantage is that you're getting a brand-new system instead of relying on a pulled (used) motherboard and hoping the seller gives you the right key, etc.  You're relying on someone else's honesty and competency in that scenario, and it's just a more complicated way to go.

See my earlier question about the USB/floppy.  You may have missed it.
