Hitachi -> Toshiba
« on: January 12, 2008, 08:44:00 AM »

My Hitachi drive puked. The motor in it died so obviously it wasn't spinning the disc anymore.

I bought a new Toshiba-Samsung drive to replace it with.

I have already extracted the Key/Firmware from the Hitachi.

All I want to do is dump the TS drives firmware so I can re flash it with the Hitachi key. I do not want to put modified firmware on my drive, I dont care to play burned games, etc.... Ive looked all over the forums and Ive seen nothing on how exactly I extract/dump my TS firmware. Ive seen mtkflash mentioned a couple times but it looks to me that it co-exists with modifying firmware.

Honestly I usually dont get confused by shit like this but.....I think my mind gave up....

the tutorial is in the stickies.  you need to extract the samsung original firmware and then load back into windows and use firmware toolbox to insert your hitachi key and spoof the original firmware to look like your hitachi drive then flash your new orig.bin back to the drive.

a little easier way to say it...... dump the sammy there are lots of ways so pick one you like.... use fw toolbox and use your sammy orig.bin  add your hitichi dvd key to it. (copy and past the numbers) and do not forget to spoof the sammy to the hitiachi drive with the toolbox 4.0  and its that easy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)  on and last step flash the new .bin to the sammy drive

First: Thanks for the quick responses.

Second: The problem Im having is I dont see anywhere in the tutorials on how to dump the sammy. Maybe its early or...Im a typical noob but... actually I think Im just frustrated. Ill do a bit more research on the forums here (search isnt working for me right now).

Awesome, dont know how I missed it (Im an idiot). Anyway I followed the directions through the re-boot/dos all that and it was ***SUCCESS*** at the end. Now one last question....

Because I dont want the hacked firmware, where do I find the original TS firmware at? Is it on my flash drive. If so I looked and there is 2 new .BIN files there.

One of them:

SAM-CFW.BIN

and

SAM-OFW.BIN

*is one of those my original and one of them the hacked?

EItherway any help would be appreciated.

sounds like you found your answer but jsut in case

SAM-CFW.BIN  is your hacked or cracked fw see the Cfw

SAM-OFW.BIN is your original  see the Ofw

just flash it with samorig or any program you want you should be good to go.
