Unbricking Hitachi 47dj With An External Programmer
« on: January 03, 2008, 01:46:00 PM »

I bought a used modified 3RROD unit with a hitcahi 47dj drive.  I was able to make it work again.  I don't have the original dvd f/w but I was still able to retrieve the dvd key.  My problem is that dvd drive it got bricked while trying to upgrade to ixtreme 1.4.  Its not detected by the bios or windows when using the slax cd method to get into mode B.

So what I did was I unsoldered the sst39sf020a tsop chip and programmed it using an external eeprom programmer with the orig 47DJ f/w from the maximus firmware toolbox 4.6 and changed the dvd key to that of my drive.  Basically ... this should be an unmodified 47DJ f/w that is supposed to come out.

I then soldered the chip back making sure each pin is soldered properly.

But I still get error E64.

Is there any step that I missed in preparing the f/w file?  Should the f/w file be encrypted first before being programmed into the chip?

Thanks in advance for any advice, help or point in the right direction.
