Well, i was able to successfully flash my drive, and when i finally got it flashed, and rebooted, i tried it out, and it was screwed up, no matter which two types of disks (XBOX 360/BURNED 360) game i use, it acts like a dvd player and says somthing like

Insert this disk into a xbox to play this game

as if i put it in a dvd player, but the xbox regonises it as a dvd

I have tried restoring my firmware with iPrep, mtkflash, and "Toshiba-Samsung 360 Auto Flasher"

And WHEVER i try to put a different firmware on it or restore the firmware on my computer, it does that thing were it goes

1)Xtreme Master
2)Xtreme Slave

and you are sopposed to unplug the power from the drive for 10 seconds and replug it, but i cant get past that.

Before (When i previousily flashed any drive (this one too)) i was able to just request somthing like for example...... press 2 to flash firmware, like i said, never before did i EVER have to press 1 or 2 and unplug ANYTHING.

And when i do that unplug crap, all it ever does is freeze and stay there overnight with that screen, no way around it, and i allready flashed a drive before, so i know i have the right chipset.

Please help me out?!

A quick search would have found that I suffered from this only a couple of days ago.
Problem was that I hadnt flashed the drive with the correct firmware with my key inserted.
I think what the problem is that after you have created the firmware you are left with two that are simarly named.
Flash again, but before you flash check your going to flash the correct one with firmware toolbox.

U haven't the key in extreme f/w
1 create enable800 disc to overcome firmguard
2 use dosflash 1.4
3 erase flash
4 flash orig f/w
5 test rom in free 60
6 start again

thanks but when i use tha 0800 disk, i put it in, wait till i have no searching sounds of the laser reading the disk, then i take it out, power up my pc, but in dos, or on windows, my drive is never detected.

Before using dosflash, enable800 must be used whilst the sammy drive is connected to the pc.

I have the same type of problem but it is not constant.  
When i put in a disc i get one of the following happen.

1. It works.
2. Disc is unreadable and wont work no matter how many times it is ejected.
3. Returns an error stating that;  to work, the disc must be place in a xbox360 and gives the same error with continous ejects.
4. Returns the error in #3, but after a few ejects the disc will work fine.

The Drives is a MS28, the media is Ridata and burned on a Pioneer drive.


Any ideas on how to minimise the issuses i am getting with the discs.?

Should i attempt to adjust the pot on the drive?

Adjusted the Pot from 4.11 down to 3.41 and 90% of the discs work now.  But still have a few discs that work fine on my Hitatchi but not with this MS28.

Yes i did, and i tried a DVD+R aswell.

When you say you have the right chipset you mean the via6421 dont ya. just because you have flashed sammy's before if they were ms25 theyre not so fussy about the chipset, but once flashed its the same as the ms28 so only that chipset will work
Have you opened the firmware you are intending to flash on to the drive with fw toolbox to check the key? just drag it on to the toolbox window and it should show the key and fwtype.
also just to clear up the 10 second trick you need to have the 360 turned ON when searching for the drives, turn off BEFORE you press the number which says extreme pri master!
count to 10 then switch back on and it should start reading.

I bet I can get it to work. do this turn on the 360 and pc at same time with the 0800 disc inside that way the bios catches it first then the 0800 go in place just before your msdos prompt.

if you did it right the bios will notice it and it will go into 0800 mode just a few secs after turning the pc and the xbox 360 on at same time now mtkflash will see it this way.

as long as you have a ixtreme firmware with the key injected your fine . then you can proceed into flashing 360.  
type in  mtkflash w /sata yourbinname.bin or try mtkflash w /sata /m yourbinname.bin but im pretty sure its first one. try both one should work .
