Via 6421l Chipset Sata Card Does Not Work
« on: December 25, 2007, 10:42:00 AM »

I bought a new Via 6421L  chipset pci card. First i bought 6421A , comp didnt detect , so i changed it with 6421L,now no detection in windows, no detection in bios...

When i plug the card, my Skaystar DVB card dont work ,too, then i take out the DVB again no detection...

How can i get MS28 to flash?

Is there any way to make Via detected?

My MOBO is Msi K9AGM3-Fih with ATI 690G chipset....

Sorry for my English:)

I had similar issues with my via card. coincidently I also had a Win TV card in there. The issue for me at least was a PCI timing issue due to really crappy nature of both cards, and the large number of devices on the bus.... In my PC there are 4 PCI slots, the north bridge, PIIX4 (south bridge) and a 10/100 controller, thats 7 devices, so basically if the adapter cards are not great then there will be issues..

You can try a few things... Put the VIA card in the slot farest from them north bridge....  If that doesn't work,  after that start removing the other cards like your DVB card to reduce the loading on the bus....

If you have more than 4 pci slots, chances are you have 2 PCI buses, the second one usually have nothing on them, so try putting the card in one of those.

in my case it's once in a blue moon that I need to flash a drive so temporarly removing cards ain't the end of the world....
