More Xbox Live ban waves this weekend

I just got back from a 2 week holiday. Switched on my xbox this morning to find out that my console got banned.

Just my luck, oh what the heck. I don't even play online anyway.

banned as well.. on 2 different 360s... one had iXtreme 1.3
and the other had iXtreme 1.4.

my 3rd one which is a 360 Elite never played any backups
until a couple of days ago after I went directly to iXtreme 1.4
for the 079/FL..

as of yet it's not been banned...

not sure why M$ feels the need to do these bans anyways..

they are cutting their own throats by eliminating revenue
they could get rom paying XBL members..

Not sure if this is conincidence or MSoft playing naughty. But i've now read loads of posts people stating they were banned in the last wave of bans, but also many 'banies' also suffered a Red Ring of Death at the same or around the same time.

Last week, I had was on XBL fine.. then RROD.

So i stripped it down, reseated the heatsinks with AS5 and an xclamp.  No joy.
Used towel method for 20 mins.

Box booted up fine.. But is now banned from XBL. (it had iXtreme v1.3)

I'm not complaining I've been banned.. But i'm reading more and more reports and people who have been banned, experiencing a RROD either just before or just after being banned.. Coincidence or ????

My system completely died right after being banned from XBox Live as well (weekend before last, on 12/16 I believe), but it's got to be a coincidence. It was acting up before so, but it was much worse right after the ban, now it's throwing 0103, E79, and 0102 at me. Still though, messing with the washers a few times will eventually get it to boot again, at least for a small amount of time. I gave up on it and bought a new Arcade 360 (since I already have the HDD and whatnot). I'm not going to mod this one, since I need to be able to log into Live to play all my old DLC and XBLA games that I bought before the new system. It's not worth the risk anymore, just to play backups, I'll just be sure to take really good care of my originals. Hopefully they all still work.

So........... where do we stand on this situation? Does the new fw prevent the ban? Are there any people still getting banned or what?

I am not banned and i nver touch live when bans are taking place, that's why im asking.

Happy Holidays Guys.......
My first system ban happened this morning.......
this was my sons system and I always backed up his games from my originals using the latest XBMC and a Kreon drive I purchased about a year ago, I always made sure we where current with the firmware releases as well. He had been playing a backup of COD4 and.....yes.... it was a good backup I checked all my backups to be sure of that a couple of weeks ago. This backup was made the first day the game came out and was all he had played. This counsel was modded for over a year and a half before this also.

Counsel: Premium MS28

I do not blame anyone for the banning but me, you take a risk and for me once bitten twice shy baby. I am done with the firmware mods. I had alot of hope after keeping up with the posts that I was fine and that all the bans where from people down loading rips from the web, well no more. I was as carefull as one could be and they found me. Theory is just that and no real conformation can be arrived at by taking polls from people on this forum....its all conjecture in the the end. Hope this helps someone out there.

Cheers!!!!!!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I am not banned etc. so delete this post as needed and this may be WAY out in left field, but I just installed ZUNE to share media and was wondering what kind of data collection and reporting might be in that package? Call me a conspiracy theorist, but that would be a nice back approach to doing things if I was in charge of tracking me down :-p muhaha.gif

KAPOW! BANNED! DESERVED IT! I was not a careful user of backups and i have rightly been banned. I really wanted to get back on halo3 so my friend agreed to swap boxes with me so i could go on live (he is not interested in live)

Like lots of people in this thread i have decided to be a good boy now, and leave the new box unmodified. This is the only option for now i guess, until there are more developments in finding out what causes the ban. It will be interesting to see what happens in this ongoing cat and mouse game! M$ gets a little cash back in new 360s for the massive outgoings of fixing rrod! imagine if someone can say 'this is what causes the ban...'

im off down the straight and narrow  happy.gif

What firmware were you at when you got the ban?  If you've been playing backups for over a year and a half, you definitely got in when modding was much riskier and you probably got flagged some time ago.  Granted, there are no guarantees, but I still don't think (correct me if I'm wrong) that anyone has reported being banned with a virgin console modded directly to iXtreme 1.4.

I read a media story just before Christmas which stated that Nintendo is the only next-gen console maker which makes a profit on selling the hardware.  So I believe Microsoft still loses money on every console sold (but makes it up obviously on peripherals, game sales, licensing fees, Live, etc.).

I too would like to know if virgin consoles with iXtreme 1.4 are getting banned.

I bought mine a week ago, plugged it into the network and created a live account. Then I disconnected, flashed it with iXtreme 1.4 12x (benq drive) and I have not plugged it back into the net ever since.

I guess I'm one of the few with a "virgin" console with iXtreme 1.4. Bought it broken from eBay, started it up (and connected to live) with stock firmware. Then I went ahead and flashed it with iXtreme 1.4. I have made sure that EVERY backup that has even been near the console has the correct CRC values. Not banned yet, so I guess I'm doing something right.

Aye, i'd be very interested to see if virgin consoles are getting caught.
Bought mine from a well known retailer in the UK (Gamestation) has the BenQ drive and new chips...

Flashed it straight away out the box then went on live and i was ok *touch wood* Just need to flash to 1.41 know to stop that jittering...

Same here....virgin 360, flashed to 1.2 and after that to 1.4. Not banned yet. A couple of my friends have a similar setup (virgin, iX1.4) and none of them have been banned yet.

Sorry, buddy, but the 1.2 fw had a bug in it which could have marked you for a ban.  That's why I said "a virgin console modded directly to iXtreme 1.4."
