More Xbox Live ban waves this weekend
Posted by Iriez | December 16 19:45 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From users on the forums, and other networking sites...

It appears that MS has started banning people over the past week (happy holidays xbox360 users!).

As always, we would like to gather data and input from the community as to what may be causing these bans. It appears to effect the new ixtreme 1.4 aswell as the older ixtreme and non ixtreme versions, and all of the drives have been effected. We even have a few reports of a few trusted people in the community who were banned and had not played anything but a retail copy. As of this moment we do not know if a new security was implemented, or if they are further scrutinizing the already given criteria (SS, DMI, PFI alterations, timings, etc).

So if you have gotten banned over the past week, we would ask you to share the following with us in the forum thread below, otherwise, please do not post in the thread! Bans only!

A) Firmware Version, drive type (hitachi, samsung, benq) and when you upgraded/installed that version. Also include if you spoofed the version.
B) Previous firmware version's, or if the console is freshly modded or refurbished (please include manufactor date)
C) Backups played over the past month(and whether they were checked with kreon checker, if not, please check the SS and report the results)
D) Originals played over the past month
E) Method of backing up games (as always, piracy is not tolerable on xbox-scene, so if you have downloaded these games, please do not bother posting.

Thanks to all who have contributed in the past, and those for the future :)

If it is true that people who have only used originals on Live have been banned, then we have a serious problem.  That would indicate that M$ can detect the firmware itself, wouldn't it?  My understanding was that this was impossible, without putting the xbox into recovery mode.

The firmware can be detected through other means. c4e has worked long and hard to predict these holes and patch them, but im confident MS has found a different way to analyze the data to determine that a modified firmware was used, e.g. jitter.

I highly doubt they are actually reading the firmware and sending it over live to MS.

It might be good to ask the banned persons to check there Z status code, I once tought I was banned but my Z code wasn't like if it was banned... turned out it was my brother who played with the settings of my router...

Anyway a banned console chould have a 190D code on the second section of the Z code if I recall well.

Banned sometime in the last week, Its a launch 360 ms2.5 that had been to M$ once last spring for rrod, this was my live box so only extremely rarely was there ever a backup in it, and when there was the network was disconnected... that makes both of my xbox's banned now.. if i had to guess.. even after reading iriez's post.. i would say that they are detecting the firmware itself not the media.. prolly in some sort of crc match check, as iriez mentioned they wouldn't(couldnt) send the whole firmware to ms.. but a flag if the crc doesn't match a list of valid crc's could exist... or maybe I'm way off and its a spoofing thing...who knows..

A) It had 1.2c on the drive since that fw's release that was what was on it when it was banned.. spoofed to ms2.5 to prevent e64(or whatever the code is)
B)Launch console, was refirbed once but its the same console...
C)In the last month NO backups have been in this machine.. as i mentioned it was rare for this console to see a backup... it was prolly 2 or more months ago that a copy of halo3 which passed xdvdmulleter 10.2 and kreoncheck was played while ethernet was disconnected.
D)Originals played in the last month include assassins creed, cod4, halo3, rainbox6vegas, and others that i can't remember from rogers video.. nhl08 and something else..
E)Samsung 0800 mode plus XBC ... but the halo3 I mentioned was a kreon rip done at a friends that passed the checker.. but any other backups would have been from the sammy 0800.

Hope c4e can retaliate with something... i know he can do it but first we need to know what ms is actually doing.. which we don't...maybe he does though.. falcon 360 here i come..

Was banned yesterday.I already posted this in another post of Live banning but just for the info

Hitachi 47 drive the first xbox when it came out.
Falshed first C4eva 2.4
Then 1.2 rev2
Finally 1.4 12x speed.

i usually play originals online which include dead or alive nfs most wanted.
Never played halo 3 even on the system.

Checked all my backups with keron checker.it says good keron rip.
Some backups are wxripper method and some from the [edit]NO NO BAD PLACE. [/edit]
All stealthed and ss checked.

Was my oldest 360 damn .

I gave the 360 to a friend and he inserted his hard disk and browse thru some of the xbox live arcade games and then turned it off Next moning I called to come on live andhe told he couldnt i fiannly aked him the error code and damn its banned. And yes his hdd was fropm a banned console and i know it does not depends on the profile.but it was working firn a day back to me.

Last played retail game dead or alive.
Have played backups of guitar hero 3, call of duty 4, Assaassian Creed all ethernet unplugged.

Thanks if that helps
