Question About Banning/firmware Upgrades
« on: December 14, 2007, 12:19:00 PM »

Ok, I have a firmware upgraded xbox that is not connected to LIVE. I have a different 'virgin' xbox with LIVE running. I want to use Connect360 to stream iphoto and videos from my mac.

To view some of the video files, it required me to connect to LIVE for the 'media' update. Now how do I do that on the one that is NOT connected to LIVE. If I connect that one, would it ban me because of the firmware update, or only if I am playing a backup. Also, does it install anything that might stop me from playing anything on that drive?

if you don't connect your modded xbox to live then why would you care about getting banned from live?
and also, i'm pretty sure that the xbox stores information and then sends it to microsoft as soon as you connect, so it doesn't really make a difference if you're playing backups on live or just downloading updates. at least thats what i think happens, someone else might no more

I don't care about getting banned from playing games on LIVE. What I do care is that if I get banned then if there are more updates that I need, will it get banned? and more importantly, will they do something that will make my firmware upgraded dvd not work

Download the olffline update.  Download the Optional Media codecs on your live enabled 360.  Use a data connectivity kit, something like Xport, Xsata, or home brew HDD connector and the Xplorer360 software to copy the media update from the Live enabled 360s Hard drive to the offline 360s hard drive.  Please note:  I am not certain if the option media update is public keyed or console tied download so this may not work.  If it's public keyed you can copy it to any console.  Unfortunately I had downloaded it to both my consoles before the one got banned so I can not test this for you.
