Spoof = Just Flash Wrong Fw? And What's Best Drive To Pick?
« on: December 12, 2007, 06:55:00 AM »

So, i flashed my Hitachi 47DJ a while ago and again with iX1.4 now but it starts to scratch discs.
Its not that bad but i want to buy a new drive.
What would be the best drive to pick?
Some say benq, dunno why.. and I think TS ms25 because u can read originals with it.(on ur pc ofc)

So what drive to pick and someone has a tutorial on spoofing? or is it just putting wrong firmware on it?

Thanks in adv!

Gideon.

No, you don't just put the wrong FW on your drive.
You put the right FW on, but have it report as the FW from your original drive (in your case an Hitachi 47)

I'm also looking for a spoof tutorial.  I'm switching from a BenQ to an MS25.  I used to have an MS25 and it read all my backups fine.  The BenQ is too picky and I can't get it to read my BU's.

I also would like to know if their is a tutorial. I bricked my Hitachi 47dj when I was trying to update to the new ixtreme firmware, I dont realy know why it got bricked though I didnt start flashing it yet I just got it into mode B and was trying to get a dvd to read in it but it just kept ejecting so I tried to just push it in manually with my hand and when the tray went in the green light just kept blinking and when I pluged the 360 back into my tv it showed error code E65.

Well anyways I already bought a new dvd drive a TS ms25 and I have the key from my Hitachi 47dj so can someone please post a tutorial or instructions on how to spoof the new ixtreme firmware and flash the drive. I would realy appreciat it, Thanks.

Gideon.

Quick tutorial (if you get a Samsung):

1. Download the firmware for Samsung (iXtreme 1.4 - 2x, 5x, 8x or 12x. 5x or 8x are recommended)
2. Open Firmware Toolbox and load your Hitachi firmware. Right-click and copy your drive key.
3. Open the Samsung iXtreme firmware, right-click on the key and paste your Hitachi key.
4. Click Tools menu, Spoof Firmware and select Hitachi 47 and Apply Spoof.
5. Flash the spoofed firmware to your Samsung drive and you're done.

Hope that helps.

Oops, forgot a bit:

3. Open the Samsung iXtreme firmware, right-click on the key and paste your Hitachi key. Press Replace Key.

Or you can just rename your Hitachi original firmware to orig.bin and place it in the 2x,5x,8x, or 12x folder.  Then double click the 'Make iXtreme firmware' command and the firmware it produces will be spoofed and have the proper key.
