Relay For Two Dvd Drives?
« on: December 11, 2007, 12:16:00 AM »

Could someone have two drives, one with unmodified firmware and one with modified firmware, and have a switch or relay system? If he wanted to play a backed up edition of a game he would switch to the modifed drive ...you get the picture. oh and sorry i have no idea why i was speaking in the third person.
thanks

well if you are trying to put 2 drives to protect yourself from being banned then it would not make sense because if you play originals online there is no risk and if you play offline with the ethernet cable disconnected there is also no risk so 2 drives would be useless

So you want one drive with a stock firmware for originals AND one with a modified firmware (which will play originals online with no worries anyway) AND put a relay, a SATA splitter AND a power splitter? How is this easier than just using a modified firmware on one drive?

put it to you easy

360 with Modified firmware playing originals online= safe
360 with Modified firmware playing backups offline= safe
360 with Modified firmware playing backups online= possible ban

So like I said it doesn't make sense having 2 drives although there people trying to figure out how to make a dual firmware but its unknown how far along that is at the time

Well there is always the potential that MS figures out how to actually scan for firmware in the future and also the recent read angle thing it seems might have made it possible for retail games to read 360 which is impossible and could get you banned...

In as uncertain a world as backups are I would think the only absolute way to be safe would be to have a stock firmware playing retail games...

You can't really go telling people what's safe and what's not because no one outside MS knows for absolute certain...

Now feasible and whether MS might detect both drives and the switch somehow or other is kinda questionable...

Im just going by facts and the facts are that no one has been proven to be banned playing backups offline and that has been proven already many many times thats a fact.. Second playing originals online has to my knowledge not caused anyone to get banned i certainly wasn't. The facts are that bad backups are the main cause of the bannings that along with firmware that is not stealth so for now yes it is safe if MS ever finds out a way to detect fw then that will be another discussion because what you are saying is just as theoretical as what im saying but to date what I have posted is correct and  what you are posting is just maybe's
Like I said nothing is 100% certain and there will always be a risk so its a decision each and every one of us has to take...

actually, modified firmware playing orginals online = possible ban.

with iextreme 1.3 or earlier it's possible to get a rotation of 359 + 1 = 360 and get banned with an orginal disk with modified firmware.  there have been reports of people getting banned with modified firmware, yet only playing orginals online.

it seems it won't happen with iextreme 1.4, but who knows maybe something else can.

so to be 100% safe online.  orginal firmware + orginal disk.

online = signed into xbox live, not necessarily playing on xbox live
offline = not signed into xbox live, ethernet cable/wireless unplugged/not connected.

I played online with only originals with non stealth firmware for about 9 months and no ban anyone that has been banned saying they only play originals is probably full of it and even if true reports are very small so yeah its possible but not likely....to date only bad backups and bad backups + old FW have been confirmed to be the cause of bans and from my understanding those who have supposedly been banned by MS playing only originals are those on the xbox forums so there may have been a few by mistake but I doubt that.
