the original post says "maximus will release a new firmware shortly for 78/79 devices" but I don't see that released.

My new xbox is a 79FL anyone know if this firmware is ok to use with it?
Thanks!

This may be a stupid question and or in the wrong area to be asking in. i dont know why im not getting it but i noticed in the FIRMWARE TOOLBOX V4.8 has and added feature; "Ixtreme 1.4 No-Check Bit firmware for 79 Drives" what exactly is this? and is it something that we need to be worried about?

As far as i know you cant flash the lite-on drive you can dump the firmware an spoof another drive e.g. hitachi spoofed as lite-on considering nobody thought this could be done i thinks there has been a hell of a lot of progress in the past week on all of this.

Its so you flash it and never need the passkey again.

But whats that you said?

Yes, correct, you dont need the passkey in the first place.

Same here, I'm curious about that feature.. I flashed my 0079FL hitachi without the "No-Check" bit... just the regular iXtreme 1.4

Sometimes I wonder if my posts are invisible to others on this board.

Just to clarify for anyone still confused and as Oggy quite rightly pointed out the 79's used to be so difficult to read/write too because of a single bit which basically blocked access to the firmware, the passkey reset this bit obviously making it hackable, however, podgers softmod technique does exactly the same thing without the need for soldering on a passkey.. the release of FWTB 4.8 and the answer to your questions is that this new firmware permanently resets the bit meaning you don't need the passkey but like oggy said... we dont anyway! (hope that makes sense)

my question is.... does it now mean that we don't need to do the unlock section of podgers technique (i.e putting in the audio CD and running 79unlock or will flashing with FWTB 4.8 put it in a permanently unlocked state as it seems to suggest??

I am having trouble flashing my drive on my 64 bit system. I have searched around, but I haven't found any solutions.. Does any one know a way to get the flashing utility to work on a 64 bit system? I do not have any other machines available to use.

I was just curious, If my xbox360 is modded with ixtreme 1.4 and I have a bad ss.bin on one of my backups is it safe to go on live with it or should I patch it with ss patcher? Some people say to dont use ss patcher, is this program safe to use as well?
