This may be a stupid question and or in the wrong area to be asking in. i dont know why im not getting it but i noticed in the FIRMWARE TOOLBOX V4.8 has and added feature; "Ixtreme 1.4 No-Check Bit firmware for 79 Drives" what exactly is this? and is it something that we need to be worried about?
Just to clarify for anyone still confused and as Oggy quite rightly pointed out the 79's used to be so difficult to read/write too because of a single bit which basically blocked access to the firmware, the passkey reset this bit obviously making it hackable, however, podgers softmod technique does exactly the same thing without the need for soldering on a passkey.. the release of FWTB 4.8 and the answer to your questions is that this new firmware permanently resets the bit meaning you don't need the passkey but like oggy said... we dont anyway! (hope that makes sense)
my question is.... does it now mean that we don't need to do the unlock section of podgers technique (i.e putting in the audio CD and running 79unlock or will flashing with FWTB 4.8 put it in a permanently unlocked state as it seems to suggest??
