and 3rd, I never updated with a diff drive speed, 12x is really getting on my nerves due to the noise. I still wanna try and keep the game loads fast so my next option is 8x, and just wanted to ask how much less nosier and slower is it compare to 12x?  b/c once I flash it, I wanna do it once, I dont wanna do it twice.

thanks

Well, if you want it to be quiet...I'd go with the 5X, it's a good compromise.  8X is still kinda too noisy for my taste...however, with the 5X I sometimes have problems with the company introduction splash of some games...like it doesn't show up properly (GHIII) or it stutters for a bit (Forza 2)...other than that, I haven't really seen many issues with the slower loading of 5X.

so with 5x, it doesn't effect the game play? just like the intro/logos and stuff?

cut scenes and game play still runs smoothly?

Ah man, i can't get my hitachi to restore. I got it in mode B (both with slax and tray open method), windows gives it a letter (g), but restore.bat just keeps saying drive NOT restoring. It gives me 4 suggestions which i should try, but none of them work.

Any ideas? (i've tried it on a ICH5 chipset, and VIA 6241 chipset)

I'm having the same problem.  Never had problems restoring on previous flashes.  Drive shows up in windows but restore.bat won't find it.

The thing is, you're not really supposed to mention where to get it, so you may want to edit your posts.

I have an odd question...   If the iXtreme v1.3 firmware was not wrapping properly...

Did it wrap properly with original games??  Is it possible in rare cirumstances that an original game will gave a 360 angle value??

So where does this leave people who use a regular DVD drive and the disc swap method to rip their games?  Or does anyone even do that anymore?

@Iriez: is the 0x67 only problematic in 0x228 (where kreonchecker scans) or also in other regions of the SS?
What I'm getting at is: should SS files that pass kreonchecker be "normal" enough or could they still have "abnormal" 0x67 values at other positions?
Only that address.
Since this is for all versions, dont i need to use dosflash anymore for benQ drives?

Is there a tutorial for BENQ for this new release available?
You can use the same method as before. Its not rocket science (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
ok...
So Is my Kreon sh-d162c Useless For stealth Backups now ? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
I thought the kreon only did the bad rips randomly not consistently, so if i rip a game and then check if it is good or bad, and if it is bad,
i rip again and it should fix it...

but this ne 359 Degree stuff sounds serious,
Do we have to wait for another kreon FW now ?
What you can do is check at offset 0x228 to see what value it is most commonly ripping at. 0100 and 0000 are most common. It is recommended to use that SS. Kreon is also coming out with a new firmware soonish.
So changing speed of your drive is not detectable? I was always thinging that MS can check if disc was readed with speed of 12x and then know who have changed FW. I'm not sure if I was wrong...?
No, it is not.
Hi,
If I played bad kreon backups offline and wasnt online since then. After I'll flash my ms28 with 1.4 iXtreme should I first format the HDD before loging on to XBL? or the bad data is not being logged offline?

Thanks.
Playing backups offline is not a risk. You should not do anything except upgrade your firmware and have fun playing.
how does this explain the people that played the backups with the bad SS.

why didnt they get banned?

none of mine had a bad SS so im good (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)   but i am still interested.

will probably be updating my ms25 later today.

This was answered in the new post. Re-read.

Hi

Can I just write over my benq drive with the new firmware, or do i have to write the orig.bat to it then flash it with 1.4?????
You need to have your key. If you already have your original bin, then you can run firmtool to copy the key over to the new benq bin, or you can put the orig.bin in the ixtreme directory and run the batch file. There are many ways of doing it, all of them very simple.

That´s some fantastic
news. I really appreciate the efford from those great guys.

I do have some questions though. :-)

   1) Do C4E accept donations for his effords? I know he does it for the fun but i´d love to give him a beer or two... Add some extra fun to it! ;-)

   2) What do you think about the missing Video 1 Layer? Is Splitvit a true necessity?

   3) What about On-line CRC check? Does anyone know if it´s still trustful or if some cleanse is needed?

   Thanks in advance!
1: No
2: Not yet. We will see in the future
3: Not sure, the stealth360 database managers are working to clean any descreptancies up.
ok...
So the New xtreme FW will Save My ass From Being Banned because of bad Kreow backup ?

If it fixes the problem (gives a 0-359 value only, even on bad backups)...
Why would you recommend The samsung drive....
Its not like u are going to get banned with Kreon backups ,because this new FW will fix the 0-359 disc thing...
Because the samsung accurately reads/responds to timings via xbox360 hardware. If MS changes these values to screw with kreon's emulated routines, the kreon firmware would not respond the way a 360 is intended to.

1.4 should take care of any new timing alterations that were incorrectly read with kreon. This may not be true for the future.
Well, that's bad news.
I was wondering: if a rip as a "not bad ss" (according to the Kreon Checker), is it to be considered good?
Or are these apparently valid ss to be re-considered too?
Older games commonly had 6701. Kreon checker is not a accurate way to determine bad or good. It was just a tool to help with new games over the past 2-3 months to see if they returned that value.
There has to be.  Either that or they're actually detecting the firmware.

After the first initial bannings occurred, I played it safe and never even played a backup since then.  I've been playing originals for almost 3 months now... and I all of a sudden get banned on the second wave.

So, what does that mean?  Either:

A) Information is being stored when you play backups offline
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) They have actually found a way to detect the firmware
C) The firmware's giving bad values to be read by xbl's servers (maybe just with older firmwares... maybe not)

and this new "degree value detection" only with "new games"... if there is degree value detection, then it's NOT just with new games.  The latest backup that I played was crackdown, and that was released months ago.

So personally, I think that older firmware is just adding this extra 1 value on every game, backup or not. Maybe it was because I had an older firmware? I had whatever came with firmware toolbox 1.2.  That's really the only other thing I can think of.
A: No.
B: No.
C: Older firmwares? Yes, non-jitter pre-ixtreme firmwares.

Yes, likely that is your issue. If you are using a older firmware, and your drive (in that 1 out of a thousand chance) pulls a 6701 in the SS off a RETAIL game, and the firmware adds +1 to make it 360, then you could possibly be banned using a RETAIL game. While this is not likely, it is theoretically possible (using ixtreme 1.3 or lower)

I'm having a problem upgrading my Hitachi 47d from iXtreme 1.2 to 1.4. I have the drive in mode B fine and connected to my PC where windows vista recognizes the drive (as H:), but restore.bat gives me the following error:

(IMG:http://img465.imageshack.us/img465/7632/ix14yy4.jpg)

I receive the same error when trying the flashix.bat. I did not have a DVD in the drive when going into mode B, and I even repeated the process again just to be certain. The light flashes and it takes two pushes of the eject button to eject the drive. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance
