how exactly are you preparing your usb stick?

are you sure your ports are being seen in iprep, meaning they show up green not orange?

yeah its seen on iprep as green just one question now ive managed to do it flash the drive and get a datasum message .. is that it now all done..

now when i try to boot pc i get no boot device ..when i flashed the xbox drive i made sure the leads were out and that the devices weren't showing in bios also i only had the usb device showing.. now when i come to turn pc on it doesn't recognise theres a hard drive only my dvd drives :-( .. what can i do

any help really appreciate right now :-)

its ok i managed to sort it by clearing the cmos battery for a few seconds .. strange ehh

Yup, once you get that data sum message, you're good to go.

My 1st xbox, which was flashed, got the E74 error. Thus, i got a refurbished set back from MS due to warrenty.

So i've just got my 360 flashed by this guy in which I've found on the net. Went over to his house, got it done, here i am now. Tot that i can just game peacefully without any stupid problem happily ever after, but i was wrong!

The problem now is that, seems like im having problem reading/detecting almost half of my back ups right now. They either hang after loading form the dashboard (u know, stuck at the black screen), or the "unreadable disc" error pops up. Sometime the back ups arent even detectable in the drive!(the disc was inserted, but the option "open tray" was still available on the screen)

My drive is BenQ, and yes, he flashed my drive with ixtreme 1.4, with 8x speed. Before that he tried flashing it with 1.5, but it was the same, as i brought along one of my back ups to test, and several times (bout 8 out of 10 time) it shows the "disc unreadable" error.

So any idea guys? What exactly is wrong? My 1st xbox could read all those same back ups without any problem. Why cant this?

Hi there, sounds exactly like something that happened to me, i got a Hitachi 0059DJ(Flashed with iXtreme 1.4 8x speed), quite old and it did the exact same thing, put a disc in and it still said "Open Tray", sometimes read my backups sometimes didnt, although i never got the "unreadable disc" error, i used to use Memmorex DL's, i now use Phillips DL's, works 100% fine with the drives now, i would say you got a bad DVD drive, either when he flashed it he swapped it or something i dont know, but sounds like a knackered drive to me because my spare 0059DJ does the same thing.

HE swapped mine?! Well if he really did, i swear to god he wont get to see 2009.

But seriously i dont think he will swap my drive because he had already done quite a lot of flashing for people, and so far i did not came across any complaints on his thread... plus, he seems pretty decent. In another words, i pretty trust him.

Well, since it's a refurbished set from MS, if the drive is really washed out, i suspect they are the culprit.

Could it be because of the running speed of the drive? If it's 12x as default, maybe it wont give me these problems? Maybe running the drive at 8x is the root of the problem? I dont know man...

Are there anything that i can conduct to find/ solve out what's the damn issue?

Well, after experimenting the discs myself, i think it's the media.... Ok, remember i said my previous xbox read those back ups with no problem? let the xbox be "X1". But there are back ups which X1 cant read, in which my "X2" can read.

So most probably it's the media? i certainly hope so!

whats the latest safest fw for the 79 drive?  i know how to do it, but need to know what fw is the most up to date that will support the drive.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't find it after a quick look at the FAQs and search. I got a launch xbox 360 from Japan with a samsung drive that I bought in south east asia almost 3 years ago(which is also where I am still living) so obviously it was modded from the start(there are no unmodded 360s or consoles of any kind on sale here). I never bothered with xbox live so far, internet here is usually slow and unreliable. But now that SF4 is out, I badly wanna play online and have found this message board. I will buy the game(I collect 2d beatemups), that is not the issue, but everyone keeps telling me the moment I would go online I would be banned, no matter if I play the original game or a copy, due to my modded dvd drive( i dunno which firmware I have but it is not iextreme). From what I can see, the iextreme firmware is what people are recommending but what I cannot see is what will happen if I play the original SF4 online, the whole discussion seems to focus on playing the copy using iextreme 1.4. Anyway, would be nice if someone could let me know about the risks and options I have now,
