I know its risky to play backups online but I was under the impression youre fine if you connect to live as long as you dont have a backup game inserted? Or is no one for sure?

HI, after reading through the .txt file in the fwpack folder I see this

XX.bin       is original
XX_16-?x.bin is Hacked (Media detect 2.0)
XX_16s.bin   is Hacked and Firwmare STEALTH (Media detect 2.0)

I will be working with the hitachi 79 drive and notice there are a few different firmwares, but none of them have the "s" on the end. Does this mean my fw won't be stealth? I'm a bit confused

I haven't been on xbox live for a about a year.
I don't want to rip my xbox apart again to upgrade unless it is really necessary.
I still run ixtreme 1.2. I read all the release notes for 1.3 and 1.4.

Is it really advisable to upgrade in order to play on xbox live with backups?
In other words: is 1.4 less detectable then 1.2? Or will 1.2 be just fine?

Thx in advance!

I am pretty sure the iextreme for all versions will work with this even the 78/79 but need someone to confirm as I have a 78 on the way so I haven't flashed yet. However everything I have read looks like it should.

Anybody?

you should upgrade to ixtreme 1.4. this compensates for a potential bug related to an invalid disc angle being reported. this is something that microsoft can detect. the future update from 1.4 to 1.5 is rumored to only be important if you are spoofing a drive from a different maker than the drive that came with your system.

if i were you, i would upgrade to 1.4 now, and just keep eye out for new developments.

Does this work on the 78/79 or do I need to use the Maximus?

now what happens if I have to drives one hack, the other clean, and switch between them when playing online?  the flashed firmware is in the drive itself so they wouldn't know right?

I know this might sound like a stupid question but can someone please tell me if anyone has been banned with the ixtreme 1.4. firmware?

not that i am aware of. i haven't been banned (ixtreme 1.4 user on a benq, using the drive that came with the system), and haven't read any stories of people being banned with ixtreme 1.4

more trouble than its worth, and it might not make a difference. microsoft could potentially see the hacked drive while you are offline, and make a note of it, then have your system turn you in when you connect to live. (for a similar example, look at their harddrive promotion. many people with arcade systems went to get a cheap harddrive, only to find out that the system was aware that at one point, a harddrive was connected to the system, and this altered the console id)

try changing your sata port on your mobo, I had a similar problem where it just hung like that too.

what i mean by changing the port is just putting the sata cable into another sata port, my mobo has two ports. One would get stuck on the similar error as you, when i changed the cable to the other port, all went fine. not sure how many ports are on that card but if there's more than one, try the others.
