I've tried restarting the drive and my computer a number of times now - I'm not using slax, I'm doing the 2 wire trick. It still hasn't worked to upgrade to 1.4, I don't have the old 2.3 to restore so I used ixtreme 1.2 instead. I'll try restarting everything another time I guess.

what firmware were you using before trying to update..I have the 2.3 available maybe I can email you the restore don't know if that is allowed but don't give up

make sure that the firmware 1.4 is not burried under loads of directories, im sure i read that this was an issue with older firmwares( i could be wrong!), but im unsure of the latest releases.

what i had done was picked a speed 12x and copied that onto my c:

hope it all turns out for u!......as hackmy360 says........."dont give up"......

I have just managed to restore my hitachi 59dj drive , i tryed restoring the drive with the new iXtreme 1.4  at 12x and it would'nt restore so i tried restoring it with iXtreme 1.2 with my original firmware files in the 12x folder and it restored. Once it was restored i was able to flash it with the new iXtreme 1.4 at 12x and it works fine.

Also i read that the best drive for creating backups was a sumsung and at the moment i have a sh-d162c flashed with kreon , please could someone tell me which samsung drive it is.

Ahh good for you biggrin.gif  the drive you a referring to would be the samsung ms-25 from an xbox 360
that is the safest way to creating an exact copy of a game...I also have the sh-d162C and at this moment no one is sure what is going on or if a new firmware is coming out for the kreon drive and its also not known if going on live with a kreon made backup can get you banned so the ms-25 is the drive you want to make your backups as close as possible to an original

do you think i would be safe-ish if i go on live with one of my backups which checks out with kreon checker as a GOOD rip using the new firmware iXtreme 1.4?

Hi Iriez

The possibilities that you can think of, would c4eva be able to combat these new M$ detections if applied?

WILL THE YANKEE'S WIN THE WORLD SERIES IN 2011 ?????

Use your head.

What if Microsoft releases a game that is supposed to report values of 360?  Then all 1.4 users would be screwed.

This will never happen. It makes no sense whatsoever from a technical aspect. Even if such a feat was possible, the whole point is that these replies vary depending on the mechanics of the drive. No SS is the same.

Well that is the only way we are ever gonna find out if this firmware works or not but again that is at your own risk as it is not known what MS are detecting

Well I'm about to give up anyways. sad.gif Heh.

I've tried flashing it on my brother's PC to no avail (he has windows XP). Right now I have restored my FW to the original using iXtreme 1.2 but am unable to flash to iXtreme 1.4 using flashix.bat on the new FW. I've tried so many things and I just don't know what else to do.

Is it really bad to continue using iXtreme 1.2 if I can't get the upgrade to 1.4 done?

i am also assuming the Ms-28 is also the best option correct?  i just ordered a blaster360. u can use that to rip from the drive correct? i guess i will put the kreon on the shelf for now.

Wow, setting the read speed to 8x makes a huge difference in volume.

Have you grabbed the package since 3 hours or so ago? I posted in this thread that i updated the package to include revised batch files for better handling. Re-grab and test.

It's freaking working! I don't know what I did...but it's working. I brought my box back to my computer, moved the directoy of the 8x folder and tried it, and voila! Thank you guys so much for all your help, I may return seeking advice for the MS drive. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Added support for Samsung ms19

Have I missed something, when have these drives come out, are they new?
How does flashing work on these is it like the ms28?

QUOTE
This will allow for those who want their ms25,ms21,or ms19 to report as a ms28.

Also the same with the ms21, all I knew about was ms25 and ms28.

They're a very rare drive . People flash them exactly the same way as MS 25/28's . People either get them in old consoles , ebay (with a MS 26/28 sticker on top) or from Microsoft if the console is a refurb .
