Dead Ms28 - Extracting Firmware
« on: December 08, 2007, 12:46:00 PM »

Hi guys,

Its a long story but somehow I broke the SATA port on the drive without realised, tried to turn it on, kept starting/resetting and then discovered that it was broke.  I've tried getting the drive repaired, a guy has soldered a SATA cable onto the pcb though its still refusing to be read.

I've heard that there is a way of extracting the firmware from some chip in the dvd drive though obviously you'd have to flash it to a new drive afterwards.  Is this so and if thats the case, any ideas where I can get it done?  I live in the UK and the majority of modders seem to be US based.

Hope someone can help!
