Dvd Drive Swap

Is it possible to swap from 1 brand of DVD drive to another.  Say I have a 79FL and I go on ebay and buy a samsung ms25, can i extract the key from the 79FL and put it in the samsung and then start using the samsung drive?

Yes but if you are going to go through all the trouble to install a passkey on the 79 drive to read the flash you may as well just keep the 79 drive.
