Update on recent bannings, altered C/R timer, affects Kreon rips
« Reply #315 on: December 05, 2007, 10:14:00 PM »

Well I'm waiting for their to be a All-In-One Backup Utility and by all in one i mean it does all the shit you neeed it to do without extra programs and stuff and fixes this stupid problem. Because from what I've been hearing XBC is crappy and I dunno how to use all them other programs.

And a question for anyone who is more educated on this. How do you make backups with the samsung xbox drive? Can you just hook it to your computers expansion slots or do you have to do some confusing technical shit? And if using xbox drive best, where the heck can I buy one without getting ripped off or something?

Yes, Is there a tutorial out there for this. I have been using the Kreon dive to do my backups and half my games are giving bad SS codes.....

First of all, when you say something like "I dunno how to use all them other programs" it strongly suggests a diminished intellectual capacity on your part.

Second, by an "all-in-one backup utility" what you really mean is you just want one definitive program so you don't have to figure out how to use anything else.  That is called "putting all your eggs in one basket" and it's a bad idea.  No one is so smart that they can think of everything and execute it all perfectly.  Having multiple apps helps guard against a myopic approach where something gets overlooked and left out.

I won't give you the usual "if you want it, go code it yourself" speech.  But I will say, show some respect for the amazing work others have done.  XBC excels at some things, as do Mulleter and Schtrom.  Each have their strong points--and weak points--which is why we all benefit from having multiple choices and options.

You will have to do some "confusing technical shit" (and probably more confusing to you than to others).  Search on "MS28 0800" and you should find it easily enough.

I'll let you figure out how to prevent getting "ripped off or something."

I don't know why everyone is bashing staples123. First of all i would like to say this board is very stubborn!! And what i mean by that is that noone is willing to accept the facts. Remember when the news of the recent banning was posted? Everyone was saying how it was only the people who dled scene release that were getting banned. And those getting banned were newbs and didn't know the shit. Even though some even said they made their own backups, people just brushed this to the side and blamed the fault on the incompetants. And then news of kreon drives were making bad backups was discovered. I mean yeah yeah yeah kreon c4ever are people that are contributing to the scene the most and everyone should be happy that they are putting in their free time but when kreon made a mistake you people shouldn't be all bashing on staples123. He makes a valid point, that kreon's work is no longer as reliable as you people make it out to believe. It seems to me that you guys still want to believe that kreon's is or will be 100% relaible after the patch work.

This post isn't about who to blame but rather that we need to think of The alternatives. Maybe the only way to make a perfect backup is to use the xbox drive. Or maybe this is just a false alarm as some have already said that they found bad ss bins but were still able to connect to xblive. Nothing is in the clear. Every opinion matters and every thought counts. Don't be too quick to brush some1 else's opinion to the side.

so I checked all my games(6) now with kreon checker and all of them passed test and I was never banned. all my originals were ripped using kreon drive. my xbox never had a bad SS game there..this makes perfect sense I guess. I highly doubt iXtreme gets you banned. its gotta be the bad rips..best way to NOT get banned is checking your games with kreon checker. if it doesn't pass then dont take a chance..play ur originals for now until something comes out to fix the problems.

I will defend Staples123 in that as far as Kreon firmware is concerned, eliminating jitter is the ideal solution for future rips.  But to call this a "bug" or that somehow it has been hidden is not accurate.  It has been known and discussed, and that's why C4Eva accounts for jitter in his firmwares.  The part that is new about this is the realization that C4Eva's firmwares don't loop a disc angle value > 359 back to zero.

What I strongly disagree with Staples123 about is the attitude he brought in here.  It's combative and accusatory.  There's absolutely no need for that at all.

On a related note, I was told in a discussion with MomDad that Kreon has found a way to eliminate jitter and will be releasing an updated firmware.  I hope that is true.

I was also told that the issue is a bit more complex than previously thought and that C4Eva is shooting for a Saturday release, although updated firmware has not even been released for testing yet.  And he is still analyzing the new Live logs.

"Live logs"

Pardon my in-between off-topic question but i've been wondering for a while: what exactly are Live logs?

As far as i understand it's what C4EVA's debug firmware logs when connecting to live, so whatever "requests" (challenge/response stuff) to the DVD drive happen when you log in to live. Is that correct?

Hmm....I think you got me wrong on that one. The jitter is not a bug, and should not be condidered a bug in any way. The jitter is an important part of lowering the risc of M$ detecting a backup, but unfortunately there's a problem with the way that the (I)xtreme adds jitter to the angles, which can lead to invalid values being returned by the firmware.

There are still improvements to be made to the Kreon firmwares - no doubt about that. The timing of angles are still faked and the jitter functionality should probably be removed. Yes, thats right - all Kreon firmwares adds jitter to the angles as well, but they do wrap correctly at 359 degrees. The jitter function is from a time were the Xtreme firmware didn't have jitter built in, and it probably does more bad than good now that the (I)xtreme firmware handles jitter as well. Two jitter systems that don't know what the other system is doing, is not a good idea. For the same reason, I will disable jitter (or make i optional) in any future releases.

I know that C4eva is working hard to sort this out as we speek - he's doing a great job. There may be more to it, than just invalid angle values, and that's exactly why I decided to comment on this subject. We don't have all the facts yet, so please wait it out and please stop making new backups - the new backups may very well turn out to be just as good or useless as the ones you already have.

/Kreon

Kreon, thank you for commenting.  We should all feel privileged to have commentary from pivotal scene contributors like yourself.  I also feel  embarrassed for some of the half assed comments on here, however easily dismissed.  No doubt an age factor and I hope you can bring yourself to ignore childish and irrelevant arguments.

Thank you for all the invaluable work, I'm confident the majority of us look up to you.

Man i have basically spent three hours reading this topic front to back and damnit I am tired  ph34r.gif .
Anyway I have basically stayed off Live since I put IX 1.2c over the original on my 360 all my backups were made with via the Kreon 162c method.banning not an issue since I have yet to try it.May never.

I was getting ready to check all the backups again and fire up my Blaster 360 rip method and put the Kreon to bed but I guess with the new findings of possible jitter issues I will wait until a final determination is made of problem and solution.

I want to thank all the coders and posters that have helped to try to narrow the problem down.

Anyone who has come here and pointed fingers and laid blame needs to rethink their attitude. These people making firmwares and fixing problems dont do it for a prize or money reward.

They try their best to make things work 100% but its extremely hard to have a non problematic softare or hardware device.

As for the childish behaviour it need to stop and as Muzzakus said i hope you can ignore the bullshit.

My 2 cents.

Hi!

I checked a Need for Speed Pro Street rip with KreonChecker, and it gave me as the SS is a Bad Kreon Rip.

But, when I use the AutoFix in xdvdmulleter, it says that the ISO is perfect and no need for fixing. Ayone knows how can I fix this SS.bin file?

Thanks

hi, you can fix the bad ss by using myfix

and you can find help on
