Call me paranoid but I sometimes think that peeps like staples are planted by microsoft to put peeps like C4E and kreon off releasing their good work. As for kreon waiting for C4E to sort out his bad rips with firmware, it would be a lot easier to reflash our console's than to redo all our rips n burns,
On a side note has anyone else seen the bit on halo 3 where your going down to see the cartographer or somethin, there is a computer which you can access, it fafs about for a bit and then says somethin like "corrupt data detected verbatim media" WTF. I wonder if it says that on the original?
When I saw that I was expectin another wave of bans sad.gif

Staple, I have an idea, go buy your games and when/if your originals get ruined, go buy another for 60 bucks. Problem solved.

Just wanted to add my thanks to C4eva and Kreon for the incredible work they do.

I couldn't believe what I was reading when I got to staple123's post. How you can point the finger is beyond me man - you're nothing more than a complete and utter jerk in my humble opinion.

Has been said before but I will repeat it - no-one is to blame. Not even Microsoft. They sold machines under the agreement we wouldn't modify it or attempt to play backed up games. Right or wrong, this was their choice, is what we agreed to, and is what has been broken.

We rely on the clever people like C4eva and Kreon to keep our little discretion from Microsoft, but if for brief moments in time they get ahead and find us out, and ban us from Live in the process - it's no-one's fault but our own.

We can only hope that with each new trick Microsoft pull out of a bag, C4eva and Kreon will still be there to outwit them once again... and that those solutions will be provided before we're unlucky enough to join our banned brothers and sisters out there.

So again, thanks guys on behalf of all of us out here that appreciate you more than you could imagine.  smile.gif

Another thanks from me as well.  Glad to see Kreon's response, which described the issue exceptionally well.  So much better when no one's pointing fingers (if we all ignore staples, that is).

I wish people could please refrain from asking such questions like this.  Or all the incorrect statements about how they are offline because they are not playing in multiplayer modes of games.  If you feel like updating your modified console, go ahead.  However, realize everything you do with a modified console has risks involved.  There are no guarantees.  If you read through the rest of this thread you would release there is a new fw release due out soon.  I'm sure you will see something on the front page explaining everything.

As for that staples comment, how unbelievable.  I guess this guy is such a great programmer he could just write his own firmware - I suggest you should.  With all software, there is the potential for bugs as any developer knows.  Reverse engineering firmware while trying to stay one step ahead has got to be very hard, especially at the amount of money they are making - NOTHING.  I can only respect the people who have taken their own time to create all firmwares and apps related to the Xbox and 360.  It is sad how many members can be so demanding and rude to such hard working people that are just doing this probably for fun.

And for that I would like to say thanks as well.

i still dont get it im wondering if i should update i thought its the games you play get you banned not the firmware. Did you update? and would it make a differnce if my game wasnt burned right anyways i thought the xbox holds history of the games so if youve ever played it, they will catch you. And are people catching yo just becuase, or is it happening from the update?

What do you not get? Also if you have been reading this post you would know that they cannot detect firmware, it is bad rips of games causing the banning. Update, but you do at your own risk. As of now there is no reason that you should not update unless you don't want xvid\divx support.

I tried this before posting, and still gives me a bad SS.

Jotavip,

I have the same issue I have a legit copy of halo 3.  I have made a backup with XBC  and passed stealth check in that program

Kreon checker reports bad rip

Xdvdmulleter says perfect no fix needed.

I reripped with schtrom and get the same errors.

Anyone have any ideas?

******Edit*****

Ok I tried something I took my original and extracted the SS from that dvd with XBC.  I then took xdvdmulleter and injected that SS.bin into the image.   What I was then able to do was extract that ss.bin with mullet and checked it with Kreon and tada I now have a good rip.

I hope this is correct and works.

Any comments would be appreciated.

So, I have looked around and I am still unclear on a certain particular...

Lets say I have been playing the Mass effect release that is raising red flags, but I have not connected to Xbox live - not even once... Does that put me in the clear? Or do I have some kind of "bad data" remaining in my save files or some kind of data logged on the HD of the xbox? So if I were to log into Live at any point in the future would I susceptible to a ban even if I don't have Mass effect in my disc slot, because the game has left some kind of watermark on my console? I understand that I am prone to a ban no matter how clean I think I am - but is there any confirmation on this sort of thing?

Sorry if this has been asked before, I just cannot seem to find an answer, thanks in advance.

You cannot find the answer because there is none.  For all we know, MS sets a single bit in the encrypted eeprom that flags the 360 as banned.
