Xbox360 Arcade Dvd Firmware
« on: December 01, 2007, 12:08:00 PM »

im interested in doing a dvd firmware mod  for a xbox 360. im gonna buy a xbox 360 [arcade version] from best buy. my main goal is to play backups of the original games, i dont care about going online.
i bought a xbox 360 for my brother last week and i saw that it has a hitachi drive [ dont know which drive i will get]
i would like to know which dvd-ROM's arent firmware updateable?
also , is it worth it to get a Blaster 360 NE ?

Hitachi v79 is only upgradable with passkey.  It is a nightmare.  Pray for a Benq

Well Installing the passkey is easy to me.  But There is a failure rate.  Basically "You win some and you lose some".  I did a couple of passkeys before and all have been perfect never had a problem but recently I have one that looked good no shorts passkey lite up to show it was in mode B but my BIOS would never see the drive again.  even removing the passkey.  Aparently something on the board died and I never figured it out.  I had to send out to perplexer to get the key.  it was not pretty.

i looked at some benQ flashing tutorials and it looks like you have to solder something no matter what... is this true or is there another method of doing this without any soldering?

thx
