Successfully Flashed A Ben Drive
« on: November 26, 2007, 03:40:00 PM »

This is what i done after reading all the guides i could find:

Hooked up the BenQ dvd drive to a PCI SATA card with a VIA 6421A chipset.
Installed the win xp drivers for the SATA card.
Created a Dos Boot flash pen (Kingston Data traveler 2GB).
Copied DosFlash 1.3 Beta on the flash.
Restarted in DOS mode, turn on the 360.
Run DosFlash to read the FW, DosFlash16 will ask you if you want to resend the mtk vendor intro cmd, press Yes.
Turned off the 360 for 5 seconds, and then back on.
Selected the number where the Benq drive was and read the FW, saved it on the flashpen ORIG.bin (make sure it’s the correct size 256kb)
Restarted in Windows, PUT THE ORIG.BIN from flashpen in a SAFE PLACE, then copy your orig.bin into the appropriate folder of the FW you want to use. (I used iXtreme_Firmware_BenQ_v1.1.MultiSpeed at 8X) “Run the "Make iXtreme firmware" batch file
This will create a benq-ix.bin file for flashing”
Copied benq-ix.bin on the flash pen.
Rebooted in DOS, Run DosFlash16… will ask you if you want to resend the mtk vendor intro cmd, press Yes.
Turned off the 360 for 5 seconds, and then back on.
Selected the number where the Benq drive was and deleted the FW.
Turned off 360 and PC (I don’t know if you really have to turn off your pc), booted in DOS again.
Run DosFlash16… will ask you if you want to resend the mtk vendor intro cmd, press Yes.
Turned off the 360 for 5 seconds, and then back on.
Pressed W to write the benq-ix.bin FW.
Turn off 360 and PC, disconnect the sata cable, rebuilt the 360 and started playing Assassin’s Creed 

I had some problems with some games though.
I use ImgBurn to write my games, at 2.4x
Used Memorex and Traxdata DL blanks with a Plextor writer.
In Assassin’s Creed when I reach Damascus, at the loading screen the Clean Disk error appears.
In Saint’s Row when I go the a clothing store the game freezes.
Def Jam Icon freezes in Story mode during the first cut scene.

I don’t know if the problem is with the blanks I used or maybe I should have flashed at 5X…
I bought the 112D pioneer burner and hope to find some Verbatim blanks to write these 3 games again see if they do the same error of Clean Disk.

Hope this helps and if you have some suggestions or ideas for me.. feel free to share.
Thanks for the DosFlash program and C4EVA for making the FW and everybody that used their time to sit down and explain how the flashing is done. It's the first time i done it and went well.
My motherboard chipset is ICH7 945 and it didn't work with the BenQ drive.

Peace.

I can tell you now for Creed that the game loads long in damascus for a regular game. Dont know why just does. Look for Office Max or Buy.com for some affordable verbs. I used memorex and my 360 laughed at me and was like WTF is this

Nice work, I'm sure this will be appreciated. I would just add the following:

Once you have read your orig.bin load it into Firmware Toolbox and check that the key is valid and drive type is correct. You can also enter your name and Xbox serial in the Tag Data section for future reference.

Black]for me it was more easy
used iprep v1006 and downloaded benq firmware multispeed 1.1
prepared my drive
my Motherboard is A8V-MX viachipset  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)  (best board for xbox 360 hack supports all drives till now) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
-turn pc ON xbox360 OFF
-booted from usb
-typed [y]
-typed [dben 123456 12345] xbox360 serial number(no [] use)
-pressed enter
-turn On xbox360
-Dump is finished and creted a Extreme Firmware for Benq
-turn off 360
-typed [fben 123456 12345] xbox360 serial number(no [] use)
-turn on 360 wait for orig firmware delete
-after the delete it says  turn off 360 DO NOT TURN OFF THE 360 JUST PRESS ENTER
-HAPPY FLASHING ASSEMBLE THE XBOX360 AND PLAY

ALREDY HACKED 3XBOX 360 WITH BENQ DRIVES WITH THIS METTHOD

I am from Europe/ Romania so i cant buy from there (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I will buy a Verbatim and burn Creed to see if the Clean Disk error persists in the same loading stop.
I'll get back with the answer.
