Wtf? Last 4 Flashed Drives All 3redlights After 2 Weeks!
« on: November 23, 2007, 05:48:00 PM »

something weird going on here ...?

the last 4 consoles ive flashed have all gone tits-up and have the dreaded 3 red lights after 2 weeks use !

I have been using the latest firmware ixtreme for samsung and latest Frimware Toolbox for Hitachi.

Have i missed some important bit of news about this... or is there a M$ update thats killing consoles ??

kinda weird that the other 20 consoles i did are all fine (with old firmware)...?

any help appreciated.

You know funny enough my latest box died 2 weeks after flashing.  It is a Samsung MS28 inside.

After two weeks got the 3ROD and a fairly new console manufacturer date it was.  I opened her up and replaced X-clamps and AS5 and been great ever since.

I have no idea if fw related as I don't think it's possible but you did 4 of them?

Hi,

i believe the very last one i did was a samsung m25. I remember when i was reading the orig.bin/hacked.bin  from the drive, and then looking at it with Firmware Toolbox, Hacked.bin was reported as being a ms28 ?? i had to spoof it back to ms25 again before flahing back to the drive. I hope i did the right thing...?

Ever had that happen ?

You should be fine if the original firmware was ms25.  You did the right thing.  Good Job..

no, none where the new console with old drives. they where all consoles over a year old, im pretty convinced there is a firmware issue here as eversince using the new ixtreme firmware this has been happening. looking around forums, i am not the only one either.

i see no reason for a hardware error when all these last few consoles have been working perfect for so long without a glich, but then 2 weeks after flashing....bang! ring-of-death (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

come on guy, firmware have notting to do with the rings of death, did you check the error codes cause if you got 0102 which 90% of all xbox360 die get then its a gpu error due to bad system design.

well, i would have considered 2 console's dying a coincidence...but not 4 in a row ... no way. all with ixtreme 1.2 or 1.3.

im wrecking my brain trying to think if im doing something different from before ixtreme, but just can figure out what.

i use the "boot with USB stick" using X360SAM with relevant .bat files and correct mtkflash for my chipset. flashing process is flawless every time, never any problems flashing.

maybe im using outdated techniques (so my wife keeps telling me !! LOL!!) , should i be using "iprep101" instead ? whats the most reliable method at the minute ? (and dont say, "missionary"! lol!)

I agree with the other poster the firmware is not causing a hardware error...

Are you losening the heatsink screws when disssembling the box???

I suspect your method of opening the box is causing the problems.

Pleeeeease do not instult my intelligence. i have been modding consoles since the Playstation One came out.
i repair motherboards and build pc's , expert & soldering , could stick a passkey chip on a 79 drive blindfolded...not to blow my own trumpet, lol!.
i even posted my own gpu cooling method on youtube for those with 360 overheat issues.

so...no, i didnt bugger it up taking it apart. i use the proper tools for the job, i take my time and dont make mistakes.

Going to try using IPREP next time, just to try and prove my theory....

also, i have read umteen forums and there are others having the same problem after using ixtreme. therefore i am not the only one

It does seem odd that if flashing the drive were the problem that doing the X-Clamp fix would make a difference.  Sounds like a major stroke of bad luck.

How on earth can flashing a DVD drive have anything at all to do with the GPU overheating?

That is like saying my car blew up because I fixed a dent in my car.

The two has nothing at all to do with each other.

Stop using the 12x speed firmware, use 8x or 5x (I recommend 5x). If ur customers want 12x, tell them "Do u want to wait an extra 3 seconds on load screen or buy a new console in a few weeks?"

LOL Ummmmm....hmmmm.....I don't know....maybe because the DVD drive is directly on-top-of the GPU's heat sink?

are you really retarded?

firmware is just code, it has nothing to do with overheating.

i'd say its just a case of really really bad luck.
