Getting 0x51 > 0xd1 Problem, Anyone Know Hot To Fix?
« on: November 23, 2007, 08:30:00 AM »

Hi, I'm having some problems with a BenQ I'm trying to flash. I've done a bunch of 'em before with no problems, but as soon as I start this one up after answering yes on the MTKVendor question, it goes quickly from status 0x80 to switching inbetween 0xD1 and 0x51, and then nothing. It just keeps flashing, if I turn it off it stops at 0xD1, and when I turn it on it keep flashing.

I might mention that it's an old, old 360 from way back when it was released, upgraded with a BenQ drive when sent in for repair I assume.

Oh, and it skips the 0x7F status alltogether. It's weird.  blink.gif

The hell? So I stopped trying with That 360 and tried modding another BenQ drive, same problem! When I start it up it instantly jumps from 0x7F to 0x80 to switching between 0x51 and 0xD1. It doesn't take a small amount of time to get to the switching as it usually does... what the heck?

If you're using DosFlash 1.4 try going back to 1.3.

I'm not, using both actually. Tried the new iPrep and it did the exact same thing. I (weirdly enough) have had similar problems with Samsung drives as soon as my SATA cable got... well, used. I'm gonna try buying a new one, because I haven't changed a thing with my computer and it's giving me this weird error.

No help. It still jumps directly to switching inbetween those two statuses and nothing changes when I turn it off and on. =/

Don't use IPREP. Make sure you have a viacard or Nforce mb. Make a Dosflash bootable floppy or usb. Use Dosflash command only to read, erase, and write onto your 360 drive.
Example Usage:
"DOSFLASH R xxxx 0 A0 1 4 C:\orig.bin" 0 or 1 (replace xxxx with your sata port number)
=> Read serial flash with a size of 4 bank (262144 bytes) from Master Device
   on IDE port 0x01F0
"DOSFLASH E xxxx 1 A0 1 4 D8"
=> Erase serial flash with opcode 0xD8 and a size of 4 banks (262144 bytes)
from Master Device on SATA port 0xC000

Make hacked firmware with xtremefirmware.exe and orig.bin
Copy benq-ix.bin unto the dosflash floppy or usb.

DOSFLASH W XXXX 0 A0 1 4 C:\benq-ix.bin" 0 or 1
Put 0 or 1 at the end depending on what works for you

Sorry for making you write all that, I found out what the problem is but I'm too ashamed to say it.  unsure.gif

You know how when you do stuff on routine you forget _vital_ stuff? Well....

Anyway, problem solved.

I use Dosflash on a bootable floppy and the dosflash auto command (just dosflash at cmd prompt).  I also make sure I unplug all my ide and sata devices other than the 360 drive.  If I don't do that, I see that happen where it never switches the status.

Unplug all the other sata devices on your pc, leave just the 360 plugged, and you should be fine.
