Benq - Problem With "make Ixtreme Firmware.cmd"
« on: February 02, 2020, 11:22:00 PM »

Yeah yeah, I'm definitely a newb but I'm also trying my best.  I was able to read, erase, and flash the benq drive.  However, after doing that, I tried inserting both a backed up disc and an original, both prompting me to put the disc in an xbox 360 console.  So, I tried again, erasing and writing and still no dice.  Anyways, I think I found the problem, but I'm not really sure how to solve it; maybe one of you could help.  When I double click the "Make iXtreme firmware.cmd" file in the 12x folder, I get the following screen:
(IMG:http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/4541/problemscreenmakeixtremfp8.th.jpg)

Any ideas?

It sounds as if you may have had a bad read of your original firmware. Did you check the orig.bin using Firmware Toolbox before flashing? If not, do it now because if you don't have a valid drive key you're in BIG trouble.

If the read/dump of your original firmware is bad you now have a very expensive DVD player, sorry. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

p.s. If FWToolbox shows the drive key as all 7's or F's it's bad.

No, I don't think that it is a bad read because I've flashed it back to the original and it wasn't a problem playing originals.

Let me guess (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

OR you are running some 64bit OS
OR you are not running the command as Administrator!
That's the problem!

you can create the hacked firmware in DOS too! i think that's a better solution

Sorry for the negative post earlier, I usually try to offer at least some advice to people in need of help. (Just been having a bad day (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) )

Very glad to hear your original firmware is good!

I think Cypher probably hit the nail on the head there - about working in DOS too!

Good luck with it.

You also get this error if you are running the command from a directory that is too far from the root of your hdd.  Firmtool is a dos based application and only supports so many characters as a directory structure.  So, move the folder to root and run again.
