Benq Very Slow Loading Backups
« Reply #90 on: February 03, 2020, 05:00:00 PM »

yes i experience this too
my xbox is xbox 360 arcade.

it use BenQ drive and have old iXtreme FW i think, its pre-modded.

playing GTA IV make me crazy. if i use police car and drive fast,

first the building gone
then the NPC Car GONE
then THE ROAD GONE

i only have blue across the screen......
and if i slow down, all the pictures are back.
this make playing a mission with car chase in GTA 4 impossible to finish.

is this only affect Benq with certain iXtreme FW  all iXtreme FW have performance issue in BenQ?

thanks

I ripped out my BenQ and stuck in a ms25. GTA IV was instantly better. No loud laser seeking, no long load times or disappearing objects etc.

so this BenQ performance issue can be fixed by CrossFlash it to SAMSUNG FW?
so the only thing i need to do is follow the tutorial for flasing samsung right? like this? http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=573693

and is there any negative effect from the crossflashing ?
can i use my onboard SATA on my PC or i must buy new VIA SATA Controller Card?

thanks biggrin.gif

i need to be sure it wont make negative effect. i dont want to brick my X360. nd it take years savings to buy the X360 Arcade.

You won't brick anything as long as you keep your BenQ drive key in a safe place. I can't guarantee you won't get banned online for doing it. Some people say its safe some say its not. I haven't been banned yet with my spoofed drive but we'll see.

What you need to do is use firmtool to spoof your samsung firmware to be a benq, and it will copy your drive key over for you. Then just flash your samsung and your set.

I just bought a 360 with a Benq in it 2 days ago and yes, GTA4 is horrible.
I was also wondering about spoofing my MS28 to put in this box, but I am concerned about getting my brand new box banned straight away.

Has there been any evidence of people being banned spoofing Samsung to BenQ?

Just got a Falcon with a BenQ in it. I was shocked when I saw the Bioshock intro stutter, and hearing the loud seek noises coming from my Benq after hearing how great it is. Apparently, from reading the posts here, the custom firmware for the BenQ needs work.

I'm spoofing my MS25 and putting it in.

Yeah I'll probably do the same. GTA IV is unplayable. You run away from the cops and end up crashing into walls that don't appear until AFTER you hit them

I have no idea what you guys are talking about.  I have iX 1.41 at 5x on my BenQ and I've never seen any problems on GTA4.  Not trying to rub it in, just thinking there must be some other explanation besides the firmware.  FWIW, I got one of the first 64930C drives.

Well I'd love to find out what it is.
People were telling me that Assassin's Creed and Test Drive Unlimited took ages to load on their Benqs. I tried on mine it was fine. Then today I cleared my hdd cache to try and solve my GTAIV issues and lo and behold I now have the slow loading times on Test Drive Unlimited and Assassin's Creed. Strange that clearing the cache has caused me to have the problems. My hdd was previously used on my old 360 with a Samsung, so maybe it had some stuff cached, I dunno.

Test Drive is the worst, takes like 5 minutes to load. I just tried the exact same disc on my Samsung and it booted in about 10 seconds.

Also the texture loading in GTAIV is horrific with my Benq. I was driving along a road and a train literally flew over my car, the tracks were nowhere to be seen. The finally loaded a few seconds later.

Again, trying GTAIV on my Samsung it was fine. I had no idea about these issues until I got my Benq Falcon 360 2 days ago. Had I known I wouldn't have bothered sad.gif

Likewise, I was attracted by the quiet and flashable Benq (as apposed to the Lite-ons that seem to be everywhere right now) but wouldn't have gone to all the trouble of tracking down a falcon with Benq drive in it.

I'm a noob unfortunately and am hoping someone can add some clarification. Does "spoofing to ms28" mean that I can trick my Benq into using Samsung firmware and sort this problem out or does it really mean I need to get sammy ms28 and replace the Benq..?

They are saying that the actual physical BenQ drive loads backups slowly. Especially GTA4. And you can't flash a BenQ drive with Samsung firmware (well you could but it would probably brick it)

What they are saying, is purchase a Samsung drive off of the internet and flash it iXtreme firmware containing the BenQ's drive key and spoofing it as a BenQ drive.

So you have a Samsung drive reading the games and it makes everything a lot faster.

Also since replacing the Benq with the MS28 Assassin's Creed now boots up quickly and I have no more GTAIV texture streaming issues.

Now that you are performing as expected, can you put the BenQ back in and test again?  I've seen many people report that their problems disappear once they get things properly cached on their HD.  I'd be interested to know if you experience the same thing.

Well the funny thing is, I only have one hdd and it was previously used with my MS28 on another box so had already been used while loading Assassin's Creed, Test Drive and GTAIV.
I initially didn't have the Assassin's Creed or Test Drive Unlimited problems. I still had the GTAIV issues though, which is why I cleared the cache as someone suggested. After clearing the cache I had all the reported Benq issues. I put the HDD back on my box with the MS28 and loaded Test Drive and Assassin's Creed hoping that it would cache some stuff and be ok when I put it back on the Benq box, but it didn't help.

With the MS28 in the box Assassin's Creed and Test Drive load quickly whether there is a HDD connected or not.

It's a strange one indeed. Is it possible that the Benq is not really reading backups at 12x or 8x even if that's what the fw is telling it to do?

For you people with benq experiencing slow loading try this. Goto you console settings --> Startup --> select disc. Now make sure you have you gta4 or whatever in the drive. Turn off and on the console so it starts right into the game. Loading times should be faster that way but the pop in wont be fixed till after you played the game for awhile and game data gets cached.
