Benq Very Slow Loading Backups

Same here. I use the BENQ 8x iXtreme 1.1 multispeed firmware. Backup Assassin's Greed loads slow. Intro movie of backup Bioshock hangs the Xbox 360. Backups made with Pioneer 111D and Verbs. No problems with those in Xbox360 with Toshiba-Samsung drive.

I don't know if this is a firmware issue, because before the firmware change sometimes the in between movies of the original Blue Dragon with the original BENQ firmware also hangs the Xbox360.

Probably the BENQ drive isn't that good as a Toshiba-Samsung.

Same here, every time i load up my Assassin's Creed backup on my 12x benq fw after the xbox has been off, it'll take upwards of a minute just for the laser to stop searching and finally for a screen to show up from the blackness...yet no other games do this and sometimes AC will load up right away like normal. Is it possible something in the fw can be tweaked to combat this? And it does it with every speed fw by the way. And no it's not the backup itself obviously since more than one person has the problem.

I just tried Assassins Creed and does the same thing takes about a minute to load the game, works fine on my Hitachi though I hope they fix this soon, I tried another benq drive and that has problems with Bioshock intro.

both benq drives had 8x Multispeed firmware, dont know if ixtreme 1.1 would fix this.

I'm running iXtreme_Firmware_BenQ_v1.1.MultiSpeed @ 12x and this is much slower than my hitachi set on low speed (can't remember which, either 2x or 4x)!

Example...

Fifa 08 Hitachi - Start a game take 10 sec's.
Fifa 08 Benq - Start a game takes 15 sec's.

C Mcrae Hitachi - Start world rally takes 19 sec's
C Mcrae Benq - Start world rally takes 30 sec's.

Doesn't look much but feels a lot longer when sitting, just wanting to play.

My BenQ is slower than my Samsung.

Mass Effect - Loading one of my save games.

BenQ @ 12x

21.2 seconds

Samsung @ 8x

16.7 seconds

Maybe the overall speed of the BenQ is slower than the Samsung.

Hopefully someone will make a update for better media detection

Assassins Creed on Verb wont work on my Benq, but the new Samsung Firmware works fine

Please update the Benq Firmware better media detection

Maybe someone like you can email Commodore4Eva and tell him to update the FW with better detection

Wow, comments like this really don't have any constructive purpose.  The Benq drives are fine, the FW was originally written based around the Sammy MS28 and when adapted to other drives (i.e. Hitachi or Benq) it sometimes may need tweaking to optimize performance.  This same issue was present when the hitachi fw first hit the scene, issues with media detection.

Personally I have no qualms with the FW, nor do I have the right to have any as I can only express pure gratitude toward C4E and the others who help make backing up originals possible.  If they find the interest in updating the FW than so be it, but please, we should all just be happy with the enormous amount of work these people have already invested and the contributions that have resulted from said work.

Thanks again to all who make this possible.

That's all well and good, but it sounds like there is a legitimate speed issue using BenQ drives loaded with iXtreme.  If that's the case, we need to definitively prove this and notify C4E.  Let him give us the final word on whether he can/will fix this or not.
