Benq ixtreme 1.5 still has texture popup problems in gta 4 but on a positive note assissins creed is ok now.
I have texture problems in gta 4 pretty bad ,saints row 1,2 not as bad, and a couple movies in random games are choppy (pure, kane and lynch). All games play fine on my sammy ms 28 and hitachi v59
Backups made from mis verbs, xbc and img burn. I think its the hardware itself, benq must just be shit drives as far as reading backups. Oh well i guess ill get my hands on a liteon and spoof it as others say liteons are great smile.gif

Alternatively, you could pick up a 120GB WD notebook drive for $55, flash it, and then use it with your 360. That would give you enough room to run 15+ games from your hdd, thus bypassing the BenQ.

Does the 1.5 firmware solve slow loading of backups on the BENQ? Please only reply if you actually had the problem before and have compared load times in backups vs retail.

The Benq's do have their issues but 1.5 has improved things. For example, Test Drive took about 2min 35secs to get to the "press start" screen with 1.4 but only 1min 45secs with 1.5-12x.
But here's the thing that gives away that they struggle, if you edit 1.5 to run at 8x or 5x speed, I get down to 1min 37sec or 1min 30secs respectively.
I'm not saying that it's the be-all end-all speed, but it runs heaps quieter and laser seems smoother at 5x.
I'm talking backups here, retails have always been smooth for me.

I thought the slower speeds were unsafe thats why c4eva never released them himself?

Ok, so I finally decided to get a Sammy MS28 drive to replace my Benq, as my GTA IV backup is pretty much unplayable.

I've flashed my Benq successfully in the past, so I'm fairly familiar with what's going on, but I just need to make sure I know what I'm doing. Tell me if these steps are wrong please:

1) Load the Samsung iX 1.5 firmware into firmware toolbox 4.8
2) Paste my Benq key (which I have) into firmware toolbox
3) Click on 'Spoof Firmware' and pick my Benq VAD model.
4) Run fSam, using the spoofed firmware as my Sam-CFW.bin

Do I not need to run iPrep or firmtool or dSam at all? This just seems too easy and I'm probably forgetting some steps. Thanks!

I'd use Firmtool or just do it in the new Jungleflasher app. to prepare the firmware.
I'm still happy to use iprep for the rest, just make sure you name it Sam-CFW and put it in your Backup/1234567/12345 folder then simply "fsam" it

As Haygar said above, DO NOT use Firmware toolbox, use Jungleflasher that came with iXtreme 1.5... FW toolbox has not been updated since the release of iXtreme 1.5, and has some issues when spoofing.

Seen as the BenQ can read originals fine I don't quite understand why it is slow with backups. My samsung is much faster.

My Elite came with a BenQ, but it now has a Sammy MS28. Backups have not been a problem ever since I swapped over. The BenQ is garbage for backups.. I now use my old BenQ drive as a ripping drive with 0800 firmware. It works GREAT for that purpose!

After upgrading firmware on a Benq from 1.41 to 1.5 I can also say it is still rubbish for GTA4.  Swapped to a spoofed Hitachi and its fine.

PS anybody wanna buy a Benq?

i just realised with gta 4 that my benq drive is much slower than my friends hitachi.. Texture popping and such errors happen, as described in this topic. Is there any solution available? Please help me
