Before you ask, did you do this or that, know that I have already flashed a 28 myself (it was my own xbox).
Ok. Here's what happened. I got my friends xbox, opened it up and all, he had a ms28. One thing that is weird is that whenever I turn on his xbox, the dvd drive make a little beep, kinda sounds like "erRT'. And on top of the drive it looks like a little red dot appears... but it's metal? Anyways... I put in a regular 360 game and it worked fine.
So, I loaded iprep with the ixtreme 1.2c firmware and created a bootdisk that had idump and iflash and all those goodies. And yes, I have a VIA chipset card that I bought just for flashing my drive. So I booted my pc and turned the 360 on (had all the cables connected and whatnot).
But before it came to the iprep stuff, the VIA card said it was looking for devices. If I just let it sit there, it wouldn't find any. It would only find a device IF I unplugged the SATA from the drive and plugged it in again. That didn't happen to me before. But, it seemed ok because after I plugged it in again it showed a bunch of crap, but had something to effect of "TSST DVD drive blah blah" so I figured it was ok.
Then, it showed iprep, and I entered in "idump" and my serial number. Then it showed stuff like "such and such folder already created" (doesn't matter) and then something else, but the text stopped at the thing that says port and stuff. Like, it listed, port: a40d (you know some weird thing).
I tried this many times and made sure I was doing it right, but it always just stopped at showing the port and stuff.
Then I rebooted and tried some other stuff, but then it would only get to the thing that says "choose device" and it would either say no device, or "xtreme such and such". When I choose that it would just stop at the same place.
Suggestions would be nice, thanks. If there are other ways of flashing the drive that are more sure to work, let me know too.
Also, I thought you only had to do the turn on and off thing for flashing, not dumping if you're using badflash.
