I successfully upgraded firmware from Xtreme 4.2 to iXtreme 1.3.  First I flashed back to the original fw, upgraded using the generated ix13.bin fw using the 0800 disc both times.  I could not backup fw then write new firmware without rebooting and inserting 0800 disc each time.  Hope that helps!

Has anyone successfully flashed a ms25 to spoof a 79fk with 1.3? I tried it with latest iPrep and it _ALMOST_ works for me.

take from my post here http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=629898

"I flashed my ms25 with the latest iPrep to spoof the 79fk with ixtreme 1.3. Now here is where it gets weird. As long as there is a disc in the sammy it works fine, plays movies, backups, and originals, and ejects normally. But if I close the drive with no media in it, it will not eject! I have to open it manually (ie spin the gear under the tray in the front) put a disc in and then it acts normal again, ejects as it should and plays media. Any ideas as to whats going on?

If this is covered somewhere in the forums I seem to have missed it."

So has anyone here replaced a 79fk with a ms25 with 1,3 successfully?

BTW I'm using the 12x version of 1.3

Thanks a lot for this tip!! I admit that i should've read the tutorial PDF again but didn't....anyhow it wouldn't work because of FirmGuard that all iXtreme firmwares install which prevents you from inadvertently flashing your drive. So burned the iso on a DL DVD+R and booted it, ejected and everything worked fine.

One thing to note is that after i did an idump (i know i didn't need to since i had an orig.bin but still) i had to load the 0800 disc again b/c it switched to firmguard again.

What speed for 1.3 should one use as i have 1.2c at the moment. Have never been on live but would like to go on. I am looking at 8x or 12x. I use hp 2.4DL media.
As far as anyone knows, it shouldn't make a difference.  The stock drives are 12X though if you want to play it safe.

What a quick response...thanks.  Also, I have definately used non-stealth backups and most of them will not work anymore.  With that being said would I have to wipe anything out like any game saves on the HDD before reflashing? Also, is there a utility to make ISO's stealth-ready if they aren't already? I'm assuming the answer to my 2nd question is NO and that I would just have to recreate backups from scratch.

If you played RECENT games (GoW or anything after), or updated your dash any time after GoW came out, and then played unstealthed games

then the dash recorded permanent ban info onto your 360 CIRCUITBOARD, not the hard drive. (You can't erase it.)

In which case you would be banned, you can't do anything about it, and you screwed yourself and shoulda done your research.

Otherwise you're probably fine.

Surely all that happens is MS log certain information about your 360 so as to disable the live service for that exact console.  Each one would have a unique hashed code probably taken from a combination of serial number, MAC address, and/or manufacturing line (or anything else they care to throw into the melting pot).

Can you cite a source to prove this?  I'm not saying it isn't possible, I mean the dashboard is on an EEPROM after all....   but it just seems like a risky method when it can probably be initiated remotely.

But saying you're right and a change IS made to the dash..  I wonder if it will be possible to install a hacked dash (once the home-brew geniuses have gotten unsigned code running on it) so that we could effectively lift bans?  Something to ponder, but I guess a little off the topic.   tongue.gif

This is my first time flashing an xbox360.
I created the usb bootable thing using 1.3.
Is it ok for me to begin with this firmware since this xbox has never been modified?

Also, how can i get a orig.bin file from my 360 if i dont have a floppy drive?

What sata chipset are you using? You can use your original and/or hacked firmware to create a 1.3 hacked firmware and flashing would be as easy as you did before.
If you DO NOT have a via chipset, you need the 0800 disc (burned on dvd+r DL)

Read some tutorials, there are MANY! If you still have questions after that, then come back, but for gods sake RTFM
if you have a bootable USB drive, you can save the orig.bin on the usb drive (but that's written in EVERY tutorial)

No - the BenQ uses different firmware. The clue is in the title of the thread smile.gif

The samsung releases have used ms28 firmware for a long time but it simply had different firmware bins that had different version strings.

If you used firmtool to create your hacked firmware, it spoofed your drive to report as a ms25. You must have flashed it with firmware in the past that reported as a ms28.  So, you can either; a) use samtool to create your hacked firmware, and when prompted to spoof, type 'N', B ) use 360 Firmware Toolbox to inject your key into the iXtreme firmware and dont change the version strings, c) wait a few hours for an updated firmtool that prompts for spoofing a ms25, like old samtool versions.

If you used 360 Firmware toolbox to create you hacked firmware and didnt spoof to ms25, then you need to spoof to ms25 and not have it report as a ms28.

It is one of the two above.
