Help! Trouble Swapping Hitachi Drive For Samsung
« on: November 05, 2007, 02:31:00 PM »

Hi Everyone, I need abit of help, I have an xbox 360 which has a knackered hitachi 47DJ drive so I thought ok Ill swap it for a samsung drive, now i managed to get the old firmware off the hitachi drive ok, so I have my drive key thank god, now I load the original firmware into iprep and make up a bootable flash drive with the latest samsung firmware and flash away, all goes ok but the system refuses to play games, ok so i go back and open the newly created hacked firmware on the flash stick with firmware toolbox and find that the drive key is fffffffffffffff, ok strange so i open my orginal firmware and copy and paste the drive key into the hacked firmware and flash again using the iflash command, again all goes ok but still wont play games! So again i boot with the flash stick and use the mtkflash w /m iexreme.bin, flash goes fine but STILL wont play games, Iam now out of ideas and would really like some help! please!

sounds like you arent saving key. You need to open toolbox use ixtreme firmware and add key and save. if all ffffff then you arent saving.

i have just had a thought, this xbox had been openend and flashed before i recived it, now if the hitachi drive that was in the console when i received it had at some point replaced a samsung and was spoofing a samsung, the me flashing a samsung to spoof an hitachi wouldnt work, now in this situation does the console behave as if the drive key was wrong (not reading games) or does it do something else? I suppose one way to know if the drive has been swapped is to go off the manufactoring date?? This console was manufactored JANUARY 06, so an early one, does anyone know when hitachi drives first started to appear in 360s??
