The Card is VT6421A 0536CD PCI to SATA....with two LED...label SLED1 (green) and PLED1 (red)...i don't know if that would help identified the card.......No jumper on this card....

I have tried different ports in the past....it has an ide, sata1, sata2, and sata3..makN it four ports...the port that gets recognizing by windows or Dos is sata1, the other ports don't get notice....

sata1 is the one it freeze on in windows or dos on the hitachi 46dh.....

I am fixing a bad flash done by someone else....I have flash benq, samsung...never hitachi...

I am more of a solder person....
Well am using it with a KT3 Ultra2 MS-6380E motherboard wich is an AMD CPU.....I think the card has some issues.....I took the card over to another motherboard Intel and it does the same thing in windows too...

funny thing while in dos or linux it works ok, but not with the Hitachi 46DH...

What motherboard with SATA that supports all drives?

I thought this was about helping "123Dash" ?  tongue.gif

I have the same prob, I got the 47DJ, reads original fine. but can't read back ups.
the funny thing about my situation is some back ups do work fine. all the back ups burned on my pc don't read. all the back ups burned on my friends pc reads. we have the same setup.  blink.gif

I'm getting  new laser for it today so I'll give that a shot and I'll let you know 123dash.
if that dosent work, I'm selling this at reasonable price and getting a new one.
rather struggle with new drive than  struggle with old piece of shit drive. laugh.gif

Hitachi works fine on a via card, if it is recognised in windows and it can be flashed, the card is FINE (period)

hitachi's (especially 47dj's) are very picky about burn media and/or burned with some brands of burners.

I had a hitachi once, and it was very picky too. However, my backups worked fine. If a friend of mine burned a game, on exactly the same media (verbatim) it wouldn't work. He had a NEC burner, i have a Pioneer 212

So media is very important but also the burner itself. I've read very positive results with the new pioneer burners, and from my own experience i can support those results

Do I need to upgrade the firmware if I get this drive?  or stock firmware is fine?
I rather just get this drive if it's gonna work rather than going through replacing the laser.

can you PM me how you got this setup exactly.  such as booktype changes w, softwares you used , what speed,,,  I just want the damn 47 DJ to read my own burned back ups  biggrin.gif
thanks abunch!

errr
it's always best to put the newest firmware on a dvd-burner. It will get it to write new media and older media better!

Booktype is not needed (and not possible) with pioneer (also not needed with xtreme/ixtreme firmware since it will report ALL dvd+r dr as DVD-ROM)
Concerning software, i always use CloneCD without probs here. IMGBurn is free and works fine too. REMEMBER TO ALWAYS BURN WITH THE .DVD FILE or set the layerbreak in the options of imgburn

thx!
I'm gonna go ahead and order pioneer 112D Item#:N82E16827129007 from  Newegg right now and try to solve this playing some not playing some backups BS.
it should be in tomorrow morning so Ishould be able to post the result by noon time tomorrow.

I use Imageburn as software. works perfect on my samsung drive.
I can't use ClonCD cause it crashed my pc same thing with XBC. don't know why, it freezes.
CloneDVD works perfect tho  tongue.gif
