Benq Flashing; Please Help Me Troubleshoot
« on: November 04, 2007, 01:01:00 AM »

i recently flashed my benq drive using dosflash32... or so i thought.

the program seemingly reads my orig.bin fine, as well as writes ben-ix.bin fine... however when i try to play a back up disc (in this case The Orange Box) I get the "unplayable disc" error. It should be noted that my iso is fine according to dvdmullet, and also that original copies of games work flawlessly, which leads me to think either A) The flashing process isn't going as smooth as i think or (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) my backup is flawed.

Is there a way to check either of these things?

id use dosflash16 instead to flash and try good media at slow speed.

I have a similar problem, but I've used dosflash16 already.  Flashed my new firmware just fine, but back up discs show "please Insert Disk Into An Xbox 360 Console". Trying a backup of an Xbox 1 game errors out...

I'm not using verbatim media mind you, I'll have to try some tomorrow. Anyone with a same experience or success story ?

I'd use verbatims and make sure you burn at a slow speed. Also xbox1 backups will not work at all unless burned on dual layer discs, that is part of the ixtreme firmware.

I guarantee you, its the media you are using. Try out a verbatim.

Ah, ive noticed the burn speed when using Verbs doesnt matter. I burn @ 10x all the time and the media works on all dvd drives that ive tried (Hitachi, Samsung, Benq, etc.)

But anyways, its probably your dvd burner then. Should try another burner. If writing firmware worked, game image is good, media is good, it has to be the burner.

alright thank you, i feared this was the problem. one quick question, does it matter if the burner supports bitsetting? From what I've read, it does not seem to matter if the burn is booktype/bitset anymore. Am I misinformed?

I dont believe that matters. Wait for someone else to answer that though  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Id suggest the Pioneer 112D, as does almost everyone else. You can read all the reviews on newegg of people that use it for their 360. Its what ive got and never had a problem with it.

Unfortunately I'm still in the lurch. Just burned a good image onto 2.4x verbatim, and I get the same message. I'm using the Lacie dvdrw8651 mind you, maybe I'll have to buy the mentioned burner :\

All fixed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) my backup was not patched correctly with the ss. Xbox Backup Creator is your friend people.
