Hitachi works fine on a via card, if it is recognised in windows and it can be flashed, the card is FINE (period)
I thought this was about helping "123Dash" ? (IMG:

I have the same prob, I got the 47DJ, reads original fine. but can't read back ups.
the funny thing about my situation is some back ups do work fine. all the back ups burned on my pc don't read. all the back ups burned on my friends pc reads. we have the same setup. (IMG:

I'm getting new laser for it today so I'll give that a shot and I'll let you know 123dash.
if that dosent work, I'm selling this at reasonable price and getting a new one.
rather struggle with new drive than struggle with old piece of shit drive. (IMG:

hitachi's (especially 47dj's) are very picky about burn media and/or burned with some brands of burners.
I had a hitachi once, and it was very picky too. However, my backups worked fine. If a friend of mine burned a game, on exactly the same media (verbatim) it wouldn't work. He had a NEC burner, i have a Pioneer 212
So media is very important but also the burner itself. I've read very positive results with the new pioneer burners, and from my own experience i can support those results
