Are you serious?? Shit, I just bought a 2gb just for this purpose bc I lost my 32mb one =P  Oh well, $2 lost.

Edit:  I can't find anything on Google that says 512mb is the limit, where do you see that?

Try it. I tried it with a 1gb stick, and it gave me a GRUB error 17 (can't find partition). Worked with a 128 though. I think some newer motherboards may support higher, because I have heard of some people getting it to work with more than 512. If you have it already, try it, otherwise get one less than 512.

This guide isn't that great... No offense... But there is another tutorial.  It uses Iprep, it's so much simpler.  I got the Iprep to work on my first try while I spent two days with this tutorial.  Just buy the PCI card.  You can't really substitute that, unless you have an Nforce.  IPrep is like the best thing ever in ever.  It's so easy.  You don't have to type anything long in DOS except for your serial number.  All of the steps are in dos, and you don't have to keep switching back and forth between DOS and loading your OS.  IPrep makes the boot USB too, with all the files; you don't have to move any files after IPrep does anything.

You talking about the guide in my post, #48?  I hope I can use a 2gig usb device...

you can get a 512mb from radioshake for like $6  but most computers I have uesed to try and flash (even tried to have my buddies start to mod on there own) your start up from a usb will not read the sectors on a drive larger then 512mb.    you can also use a 1.44mb floppy drive also you know the old 3.5 disks or was it 3.25 lol

and finger11 google this  512mb usb drive you will find a lot of sites or even ebay.

i have used 1gb, 2gb, 4gb 8gb all no good................

512mb, 256mb, 128mb, 32mb, 1.44mb  all good............

you can also use this to cheat  get a sd card and buy a $5 usb converter and stick the sd card it inside of it.

Hot damn, I never thought of using the all-in-one usb converter that I have.. I have a few SD cards that came with my digital cameras over the years, I think one is even 16mb... awesome.

well the smaller harder disks were 3.5, the big ass floppies were 5.25 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

if your chip-set is compatable then you can.

I used to have 2 computers I used to flash my drives (1 for sammys and benq;s that I used the onbopard sata drives to flash... and the other for hitichi) till I found A good dell that like the Via card I bought and now I have ! that will flash all the drives

I could really use a hand. As straightforward and awesome as this guide goes, I have run into a few snags. After I installe the drivers for the Serial ATA Card and Rebooted, I cannot find it anywhere.  I cannot see it in the MSINFO screen, nor with the vastly superior Everest. I am going nuts. I could really use some assistance.
