Flashing Benq W/ixtreme V1.1 (tutorial)
« Reply #60 on: October 30, 2007, 06:49:00 PM »

OK i got a Intel Motherboard....and i do everything and i get to the part where it says (DOSFLASH by Kai Schtrom,10.09.2007 Ver,1.2 Beta) and thats it, I turn the 360 on and off and nothing it just stays there....i think the chipset doesnt wanna read the firmware...So i ordered the VIA card from newegg...

I just have a question....

Does dosflash give you an option to backup your orginal firmware? and someone should really post exact direction to what and how they did it step by step..MANHUNT did a good job but someone needs to be more detailed...step by step...he kind of wonders off at the end of the tutorial..I hope im not gonna be the one that posts that turtorial...Someone get to it before me, i get my sata card on friday....

thanx guys keep up the good work. muhaha.gif  tongue.gif

R = Read Flash   W= Write Flash E= Erase Flash
R means readit and save it to whatever and that is your backup.

Hi,

So I have everything placed here...

-Turn on my xbox
-press on dosflash
-got that failed msg so I press yes
-Turn off my 360 and wait few secs and turn it on...

And than nothing happens...

I 1 time rebooted and pressed NO, and I could see there the xbox360 drive but could not read/write or anything because MTK failed.

I have no idea what to do sad.gif

I tried that tutorial with ntfs4dos etc... but that doesn't work either, but I can see the drive sad.gif

please help me.

my chipset: GIGABYTE GBB36X Controller

PS. I have also INTEL ICH9 2 port SERIAL ATA STORAGE CONTROLLER 2 that works via iPrep, and PORT 1 doesn't work...

Hello! Yesterday a friend of mine tried to flash my benq drive but couldn't do it.
He did everything on an ich7 chipset. He managed to back-up my orig.bin including the drive key, using the switch method.
He created benq-ix.bin. After a long time getting "wrong drive status" he managed to write the new benq-ix.bin on the drive. Write was succesfull.
But when we tested the console, the games are not working (original or backup), the only thing that works are dvd movies. Please HELP ME! What went wrong?
I was thinking that the drive and ixtreme firmware was ok, because the dvd movies are working.
Anyone got a clue? THANK YOU A LOT!

Oh, my console is US made, ntsc.

Thank You Again!

did you check the dumped firmware in toolbox to see if a key was found?
Playing movie dvd's and NO games looks like there is a corrupt key in the firmware. check if you have the key by loading the firmware in toolbox 4.5!!!
If the is screwed (like all 7's) you've just screwed your xbox!

Just to add, I managed to flash my Benq with an ASROCK 939 Dual SATA 2 board with JMICRON chipset.

I followed dosflash 1.3 tutorial for NVID chipset and it worked flawlessly. I must however stress you use DOSFLASH 1.3 (dosflash 16 of usb bootable) and not previous versions or you will never get the re send command, that initially screwed me up.

Props to all concerned on a great piece of work, and Santa you can forget that bike I was after  biggrin.gif

Ok. I checked my key using toolbox, and the key is perfect. This is my orig.bin key "904CB0E094004006E4F0A37404F0904C"
I checked the generated ixtreme firmware, and i got this key inside the ixtreme fw "9F904C8DE09E40A802A686904CD4E078"

What is wrong? Why i have diferent keys between the original and the generated ixtreme? Is something wrong with the generator, or is something else?

try to create a new ixtreme with the included cmd file and see if it makes a difference.

Did you by chance dumped the original firmware twice? If so, see if there's a difference between them

I tried to create the ixtreme with the included "make ixtreme firmware" file, and it gives me the same different key. We dumped the original fw couple of times but we retrieved the same key all the time. We tried to write the drive 5-6 times with ixtreme , write was succesfull but same result, no games only movies.
I uploaded the orig.bin and the generated benq-ix.bin maybe you guys can take a look at it.
I owe you a beer! Thank you  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Firmware DOWNLOAD

I'm at work now, and i don't have the tools to check it here. I'll be home very late tonight since i have some presentations to give tonight.
I'll check it when i'm home (if no-one else has done this by that time)

I thought there was a bug in firmware toolbox concerning benq firmware, but i don't know this for sure.

When you create the ixtreme firmware with the command, there's a status screen at the end with the copied key and so.
Are those keys the same?

And did you also try to flash the original back again to see if original games work after flashing it back to original??

We flashed back the orig.bin back but with the same result. I think we got the key but the orig fw is bad, there is anyway we can find the original firmware somewere so we can put the key in and restore it to it's original state?

Neither of the keys are correct.  You have a very different looking firmware from all the others that i had looked at when writing the app. So, either you have a partially bad dump (which i dont know, all the versions strings and serial exist in correct locations) or it just another fw revision.  I'm surprised that this is the first we've had an issue if this other fw exists out in the wild.  I will patch your benq-ix.bin and PM you with a link.  I'll have to make a 'firmtool' revision with additional checks to avoid this issue.

Caster.
