Check the bit where you edited the batch file to suit your chipset.  Something's probably wrong there.
Worth trying the other SATA port?

I have edited in the CC00 which applies to my card, as well as ensured the file paths are accurate.  I have read in other threads that I should uninstall the via drivers, but I assume that is only for dosflash 32?  Also, should I have all other devices disconnected, or anything special disabled in the bios?

I had my hdd set up with the MS25 and MS28 batch files and used NTFS4DOS for that, and was trying NTFS4DOS to load to this point - is that the problem you figure?  Running it off the hdd instead of a bootable usb etc?

I run from HDD but mine's a dual-boot Win98/Win2K setup, FAT32 throughout, not NTFS.

I think I have discovered a mistake in the file "BENREMOQ". The directory where it gets the bios file is currently "copy quiet\fw\benq-ixa.bin". I believe it should be "copy quiet\fw\benq-ixB.bin" Correct me if I am wrong.

its quite sad people need batch files or any type of auto-flasher.  its only a few simple commands.  It was the same way for samsung.  There was autolasher tools, but who really needs them.

It's not about what people need or can/can't do, its about convenience.

What I would like to see is the developers of iPrep include a drop down menu to prep a boot device for flashing samsung or BenQ drives. Make it all one step as this also shows and makes it easier for people to get the Device I/O.

I know, but I just cant see trusting an autotool, especially if its someone elses box.  I'd rather make sure I do everything myself.  I don't even trust samtool, as it has put the key in the wrong place before for me.

Well, i'd like to see that particular firmware then because when using original samsung firmware to create your hacked samsung firmware, it copies your entire key range.  So, i find it pretty hard to believe that it 'put the key in the wrong place'.  If you used it to spoof a drive using a hitachi original, yes, they key would be in a different place.

Now, you say the wrong place.... you do realize that samsung firmwares have like 100+ valid key locations and it shouldnt matter which location it is in, as long as it meets the proper structure?  Are you sure you know what you're talking about?

Caster.

Cheers.  An updated benbatch.rar is now online (same name as the previous one), also on Xbins.  New .rar file is 6412 bytes, and gives you credit for bugspotting in the readme!

It saves making mistakes.  A batch file NEVER makes a typo.  I don't even trust myself when it comes to repetitive stuff (which is why I always leave the eject button on top of the unshielded 360 lid - if I don't, I forget to refit it) which is where the batch files come in handy.  They're geared towards "professional modders" who do a lot of boxes, need to keep track of which firmware came from where, and who want the end users' boxes to be in safe hands.

You're welcome!  I might even release my hacked GaryOPA files (which save in the same structure as BENREAD/SAMREAD) but I haven't bothered getting FLASH24S.BAT and FLASHIX.BAT to co-exist in the same directory yet.

I don't use SAMTOOL, basically because I don't need to.  I know X360SAM inside-out though, I know it's thick-as-shit when it comes to drive keys, just copying the whole block without trying to figure it out, and it's never let me down.  The next version (when I can remember where the source code is) will add BenQ spoofing, that's probably just about it.
I use FIRMTOOL though, because I don't have any reason to doubt Caster420's work.  He writes using a decent language (Turbo Pascal isn't it, Caster?) and I think that, like me, Caster would be on a major guilt trip if he managed to fuck his code up and create a brick-fest, so things get tested, and tested thoroughly.  The only thing I'd change about FIRMTOOL is that I'd go for the 3-files approach (orig, xtreme, hacked) rather than the 2-files approach (orig, copy-of-xtreme-that's-going-to-become-hacked) but that's just personal preference.
X360SAM does what it set out to do: directly replace the need to hexedit a big block of code in Windows.

Excellent little application!
Just thought I'd throw in my little success story for people having trouble and lacking faith.

-I used iPrep to find out my port addresses as msinfo32 didn't work on my machine. I used my onboard VIA 8237A sata.
-I edited the benhack.bat, benreadq.bat and benreadf.bat for my sata port addresses.
-Dumped the benbatch application onto my bootable usb which also contains my Samtool stuff.
-Booted to the USB and used benread.bat and benhack.bat following the instructions on the screen.
-Worked perfectly  smile.gif

A little word of warning. When it tells you to power down your BenQ drive, if you are using your 360 to power the drive wait a good 5 seconds before going onto the next step. The newer 360's take a while to fully power down. You will hear the fans stop spinning when the 360 is fully powered down.
When I first tried this using app I didn't wait for the 360 to fully power down before going onto the next step and it flashed the first bank only just before the power to the BenQ drive was properly cut off, and then it hung. I sh#t myself at this point. Luckily I just flashed it again waiting for the 360 to fully power down between each step and it worked flawlessly smile.gif

Good luck peeps!

Yea, that is exactly what I am going to do when I get a chance, seems like the best option to me! I was thinking of writing a tutorial on it as well, but then I decided it's a heap of effort haha.

Hi there,

I wanted to know, do i just use iprep to make a bootbale drive then delete everything on it and copy everything from that rar archive onto the bootbale usb drive.

Boot from usb and then type "BENREAD.BIN xxxxxxx xxxxx" then it will read my FW automaticlly.

Power cycle the xbox + PC then boot from usb again. type "BENHACK.BIN xxxxxxx xxxxx" and it should start to flash. is that it? thats the whole process?

i want to flash the QUITE FW. will it ask during the flashing proces which FW file i should use? i have both the QUITE FW and the FAST FW on my usb drive aswell (in separate folder obviously).

Also i have a VIA 6421. is this compatible? thanks alot!

Don't need to delete anything.

Don't need to power-cycle the PC, only the drive.  If it's being powered from a 360, you power-cycle that (make sure it powers off - watch the fans).

No, it won't ask. This is explained in the readme file, lines 19-28.
I believe QUIET firmware has a bug, so it'll run at full speed anyway.  Use FAST instead.

Yes, but don't forget to edit the batch files to suit your SATA controller, it varies depending on your hardware setup.  Instructions for finding the port come with DOSFLASH, places to edit are clearly marked in the batch files.
