you said you burned the .iso
did you change the layerbreak in the preferences?? Otherwise it won't work. (or create a dvd file with mulleter, and use that one to burn!)

second, try other media memorex sucks

can you explain those two a litttle better?
i know a dvd file is that small file with the layerbreak number and the ISO name in it when you open it in notepad but what do you do with that file? what do you do with changing the layerbreak in your dvd program's preferences? i see that for DL media, my DVD Decrypter's Layer Break is set for "Calculate Optimal"...should I have it on "User Specified" with the layer break number set as the one in the DVD file?? Will that make the backup burn and work correctly??? I mean it doesn't boot at all and says Unplayable Media once again. I never heard of these layer break settings things mentioned anywhere in xbox backup forums ever, please expand a little more for my sake..thank you..

besides that, is there anyway something would be wrong with the flash i did? by the sound of it, doesn't it seem like there's no way it could have gone wrong? is there anything i'm missing or can check??? thanks so far guys

I figured out how to flash my BenQ. I just followed the video tutorial found on the 1st page of this thread. I used the "Benbatch" files on a floppy and used dosflash. I didn't bother to change directories in dos. I just put dumped everything straight to my floppy disk with no additional folders. Getting USB to work is a real pain so I didn't bother. If you have a new floppy you have nothing to worry about while flashing. Takes a bit longer but let it do it's work. As for the timing.. Just follow what buddy does on the video. Worked for me.  rolleyes.gif

Video tutorial for those who missed the link:

sorry but it wont work because you need the following to flash it, a VIA 150 card from newegg which is VIA 6421 chip and a usb flash 256mb and up is fine. and a free pci slot. then download total noob tutorial and print it because you sure will need it. do what it say and you will have fun playing back up with in the hour.

MOD edit- Fixed your version number. Also onboard VIA 8xxx works. Dont want misinformation out there (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (and you can use any size thumb drive, mine's 32mb)

I don;t think you've flashed it wrong, but i think you burned the backup wrong!

You can select the .dvd file to burn in imgburn. OR you can set the layerbreak on userspecified and then you need to set it to the value in the .dvd file

Wanted to add a success story. smile.gif  My hardware:
Via VT6421 SATA Card

I had to use the commands: dosflash x xxxx a0 1 4 a:\orig.bin 0

1 would not work, had to use 0. Also, i had to boot the 360 before the pc. Worked this way with 2 different 360s. I couldnt write new firmware before erasing. It would say "140312 write errors"

Hardest thing was finding my damn usb drive. Spent an hour looking for it when it was right in front of me sad.gif

I'm trying to read the firmware....but (while in DOS) after you hit "y" for yes. it shows this:0xFF......instead of 0x7F.   and it just hangs there, reguardles if the 360 is on or off.

how do I fix it?

Wow you were absolutely right man..thank you so much!!! I just set the Layerbreak number in DVD Decrypter and it worked! That bit of information should be more widely told to noobs like myself, because I don't have too much experience using DL media and never would have known about layerbreak! I owe ya one.

So another success story for the time being then...flashed my BenQ Halo 3 system using DosFlash16 and a floppy boot disc with a Dell Dimension 2350 with an Intel 82845G. Thanks everyone!

any confirmed flash with a ICH9?  I have a Dell Vostro 200 and using Iprep nothing in Scsi.  But I remember reading that ICH9 was supported.

Listed under IDE Based:

Intel® ICH9 4 port Serial ATA Storage Controller 1 - 2920

Intel® ICH9 2 port Serial ATA Storage Controller 2 - 2926

I just got a xbox from best buy lot 0739 Team FDOU and I want to try this biggrin.gif

I can't edit my thread so...

ignore my other post, I don't know PC's that well, I'm a mac guy biggrin.gif

I have another computer, a Compaq sr1910nx with a Nvidia 6150 LE chipset and a Asus a8n-LA board.  I ran msinfo32 but the scsi didn't say anything.

Researching the 5150LE is nforce 430 meaning nforce 4 board?

Is the layerbreak always going to be 1913760 for every single 360 backup? or does that number change sometimes for certain games?? Also, any news on when the quiet FW is going to be fixed?
One more thing, what is CRC exactly? Cyclic Redundancy Check right? When you go to Batch ISO Operations in Mulleter and do a stealth/CRC check, what does it mean when it tells you "ISO checked ok for stealth but Ini file was Invalid" or something like CRC not valid or not found?? Thanks again!

layerbreak is always 1913760 for ALL xbox 360 games. And as i said before, you could have used the .dvd file to burn the game (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
That info is found everywhere (read the stickies in the backup section of this forum)

and mulleter checks to see if the data matches an online database. if you have a game that doesn't check out BUT iso was checked OK, you can try to fix it. It means that it doesnt match the original game

It sounds like you did not get the port # correct on your dosflash command.

I got my first BenQ today and ive been reading for the past two hours but im still not fully sure of what i should be doing or if the equipment i have is capable of doing it.
I have an Asus A8V mobo that has onboard sata using the VIA 8237 chipset. I tried the Dosflash32 meathod in XP but after clicking yes (and turning the benq off then on again) to the  "resend MTK to vendor" thing nothing happens. But then i read this on the first page of this thread :-

" For those of you with VIA cards, we recommend trying dosflash32 without the VIA windows driver installed. The port is directly accessed with giveio.sys, and it seems that the VIA drivers can mess things up.

Success stories so far...
onboard VIA8237 (win32 and dos16)"

So to cut short story long...my question is.....how do it make sure im not using the windows driver ?

Also , i dont see any instructions in the readme for "soft flashing the benq in dos mode using VIA + dosflash 16 in AUTOMODE" if some could give a breif explanation on how to do it i would be most greatful. TIA
